Chapter 133
Elle’s POV
“Alex,” I said slowly, trying to organize my chaotic thoughts. “I don’t understand something. If Brad really wants to… end things between us, why isn’t he having Mira handle these social obligations instead? She’d
be perfect for promoting herself in werewolf society.”
The question hung in the air, and I saw Alex’s expression shift slightly.
I shook my head, trying to dispel these confusing thoughts. “You know what? I’m exhausted. I need to
think about all this. Can we… can we talk about this tomorrow?”
Alex nodded understandingly, but as he turned to leave he hesitated at the door.
“Mrs. Rayne,” he said quietly, his voice unusually gentle. “Alpha really does care about you. He’s just… he’s not good at expressing certain emotions, so it causes a lot of misunderstandings.”
I stared at him, feeling slightly stunned. “Alex, how long have you been with Brad?”
“Ten years,” he replied without hesitation. “I’ve been with Alpha since I graduated from university. He
personally funded my education and training-I have my doctorate because of him.”
My eyes widened. “Doctorate? You have a PhD?”
Alex smiled slightly. “Yes. All of Alpha’s assistants have at least a master’s degree. Even Amy has her
graduate degree from a prestigious university. Alpha only works with the best.”
I felt my world tilt slightly. “What about Brad himself? What’s his educational background?”
Alex’s chest puffed with obvious pride. “Alpha Brad is a louble postdoctoral fellow. He’s fluent in French, Japanese, Korean, German, Russian, Italian, and Arabic, plus several other languages. As an Alpha, his capabilities are among the very best in the werewolf community.”
I felt my jaw drop. Jesus Christ. Brad was… he was brillant. Genuinely, impressively brilliant.
“He’s also,” Alex continued more softly, “aside from his wo previous relationships, has very little romantic experience. He really wants to be good to his mate. He st… doesn’t always know how.”
The information hit me like a freight train. This whole me, I’d been thinking of Brad as just some powerful, cold Alpha who saw me as nothing more than a breeding vessel. But Alex was painting a picture

of someone completely different-someone who was actually trying, in his own clumsy way, to care for me.
“He’s not as cold as he seems,” I whispered, almost to myself.
Alex smiled. “No, Mrs. Rayne. He’s not.”
After Alex left, I lay down on the bed, my mind spinning with everything I’d learned. Within minutes,
exhaustion overtook me, and I fell into a deep sleep.
## Brad’s POV
I was reviewing some documents when Alex knocked on the door of Roy’s study.
“Alpha,” Alex said, stepping inside. “I just received word from headquarters. Elizabeth has asked that you
settle in as soon as possible. The werewolf medical team and other personnel will arrive tomorrow
morning.”
I looked up from the papers, immediately understanding the implications. We couldn’t stay at Roy’s place
indefinitely, and more importantly, I needed to provide Elle with a proper residence befitting a Rayne
family member.
“We need a house,” I said, already reaching for my phone. “Contact the most reputable real estate agents in
the area. Immediately.”
Within an hour, I had three of Moon Lake City’s top real estate agents competing for the privilege of serving me. When I mentioned I was looking for a property suitable for my mate, they practically tripped.
over themselves offering to donate houses to the Rayne Group.
I selected a beautiful villa in the upscale werewolf residential district, not far from Roy’s compound. It was spacious, elegant, and had excellent security. Most importantly, it wouldn’t make Elle feel like she was
living in some downgraded accommodation.
After handling the paperwork and leaving the details to Alex, I found myself drawn back to Elle’s room.
She was sleeping peacefully, curled up on her side with one hand resting protectively over her stomach. Her golden hair was spread across the pillow, and her face looked so serene in sleep,
I sat down carefully on the edge of the bed, not wanting to wake her.

That’s when it happened. Still asleep, Elle shifted and unconsciously wrapped her arms around me, pulling me closer like I was some kind of giant heating pad.
A smile tugged at my lips as I watched her snuggle against me, her face peaceful and content. Without thinking, I reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face, then pressed a soft kiss to
her forehead.
Something about being near her like this calmed the restless part of my wolf. All the tension and conflict
of the past few days seemed to fade away when I was just… here with her.
I was just starting to relax when my phone buzzed loudly.
I grabbed it immediately, checking the caller ID. Lester,
Fuck. This couldn’t be good news-Lester rarely called this late unless something was wrong.
“Brad,” Lester’s voice sounded strained. “I need to talk to you. In person.”
I glanced down at Elle, who was still sleeping peacefully against me. “Can it wait until morning?”
“No. This is urgent.”
I sighed quietly. “Alright. Give me ten minutes.”
After hanging up, I carefully extricated myself from Elle’s embrace and pressed another gentle kiss to her
forehead before leaving the room.
Outside, I found Lester standing under a street lamp, smoking-which immediately put me on edge. Lester
only smoked when he was seriously stressed about something.
“What’s got you so worked up?” I asked, falling into step beside him as we began walking. “Is it Sophia? Are
you planning to make a move on her?”
“Shut up, Brad,” Lester interrupted, his tone unusually serious. “Don’t deflect. I need to ask you something,
and I need a straight answer.”
He stopped walking and turned to face me directly. “Are you serious about Elle? About this whole thing
with her?”
The question caught me off guard.

The readers' comments on the novel: After One Night with the Alpha (Brad and Elle)
Not sure how the story ended without completing the circle on what happened to Sophia and Lester. That loop was just left hanging... what happened with the Blair contract of having to married Raymond? All Eleanor wanted was a piece of Rayne industries?...
