Chapter 111
Eliana was really drunk. She hardly ever drank and didn’t realize how strong it was.
Feeling down, she knocked back a few drinks and soon her head was spinning.
Groggy and uncomfortable, Eliana thought about getting somer. But the moment she tried to stand, her head spun, and her legs felt like jelly. If Nathan hadn’t steadied her, she would’ve hit the floor for
Eliana thought getting some air would help, but the moment she stood up, the dizziness only got worse.
Resting in Nathan’s arms, Eliana still felt her head spinning, her legs, the dizziness only got worse.
weak to keep her steady.
Eliana was aware she was leaning against Nathan, but she just didn’t have the strength to pull away from him and steady herself,
Her mind went blank for a moment, and Eliana just stayed close o him, hoping to feel a little better.
With Eliana pressed up against him, Nathan’s feelings, already brewin
inside, surged out of control.
Nathan took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, then bent down to check on her. “Are you okay?”
Hearing his voice, Eliana managed to lift her head, her eyes bleary and unfocused. She just frowned a little, unable to get any words out.
But the way she looked up at him right then hit Nathan right in the feels, his heart so weak it could barely handle it.
“Eliana, why didn’t you wait for me? Why did you marry someone you don’t love, someone who doesn’t love you?” Nathan murmured.
He stared at Eliana, so drunk that she could barely think straight and he could feel his breath quicken.
His arm around her waist tightened even more. Nathan bent down and scooped her up strode quickly back into the bar.

there, drunk as she was.
But the moment he carried her inside and set her down on the soft chair, he couldn’t hold back the storm of feelings inside him any longer.
Nathan leaned in, trapping her between himself and the chair, his gaze fixed on her. In that instant, something inside him snapped, and he lost all restraint.
“Eliana, you’ve had too much. Let me call—” Nathan started, but before he could finish, Eliana suddenly reached out and grabbed the front of his shirt.
Eliana was really drunk, her eyes red and glassy as she looked up at him, tears rolling down her cheeks.
Watching her tears fall so helplessly, Nathan felt like someone was squeezing his heart; it hurt so badly that he couldn’t even put it into words.
Nathan reached out to wipe her tears, but Eliana suddenly knocked his hand away, her voice low and heavy. “Just leave me alone,” she muttered.
Eliana slurred, “You left, so why do you care now? Didn’t you walk away for good back then? Then just stay gone. Stop acting as if you care. Whatever happens to me, it’s got nothing to do with you.”
If Eliana were sober, she’d never say anything like this in her entire life.

Chapter 111
But now, with the alcohol taking over, all her emotions broke
from the chains of reason and came pouring out
Nathan looked at her, and that ache in his chest just kept intensifying, overwhelming him until it was all he could feel.
He bent down, gently cupping Eliana’s cheeks in his hands, his den eyes rimmed with tears.
He took a deep breath, his voice raw and earnest. “I’m sorry, Eliana. I never meant to leave you behind. Back then, I had no choice. I didn’t even know if I’d make it back alive.
In that situation, maybe disappearing from your life was the only way I could hurt you the least
Both of them were too stubborn to ever let down their guard, but only in moments like this could they finally speak their true feelings.
As Nathan spoke, he locked eyes with Eliana, swallowing hard. All those feelings he’d been holding back finally broke loose.
He hesitated for a second, then leaned in closer, testing her reaction.
When Eliana didn’t push him away, Nathan just lost it. He leaned in, kissing her deeper and deeper, unable to stop himself.
The moment his lips met her soft ones, Nathan snapped. He couldn’t hold back anymore.
The more he kissed her, the more he wanted her.
Just thinking about how the woman he’d once treasured, the one he’d tried so hard to protect, had been broken by six years in a loveless marriage, it tore Nathan up inside.
Looking at her now, he sometimes wondered if he’d messed up, if it was all his fault.
Would things have been different if I’d just told her the truth back then?‘ Nathan couldn’t help but think. But he just couldn’t bring himself to say those words.
With all these thoughts swirling in his head, Nathan hugged Eliana even tighter, finally letting all the feelings he’d been holding in spill out.
Tears kept streaming down Eliana’s face, but she didn’t push Nathan away. She just closed her eyes, letting herself cry as much as she wanted.
It felt like she was lost in an endless, all–consuming dream, back to those high school days, back to when she was with Nathan.
Only this time, the Nathan in her dream was even more of a troublemaker than he ever was back then. But she just couldn’t bear to push him away.
Since they were already apart in real life, she let herself indulge in this dream, just this once.
With that thought, Eliana wrapped her arms around Nathan’s neck, responding softly to him.
That small gesture was all it took; Nathan completely lost control.
