“Open up, Eliana,” Nathan said softly at the door. “I just want to come in and talk for a sec.”

“Eliana, open the door, be good…” he coaxed.

Nathan was definitely a little drunk, rambling to himself outside the door.

Eliana really couldn’t resist him anymore, so she opened the door.

As soon as the door cracked open, Nathan squeezed in and quickly closed it behind them.

In the dead quiet of the night, the soft click of the lock echoed, and for a moment, Eliana’s heart was thrown into chaos.

She’d gotten out of bed in a hurry and hadn’t bothered to turn on the lights.

She knew her place like the back of her hand, so walking over in the dark didn’t feel strange at all.

But now, with Nathan in the room, she suddenly realized that all her feelings seemed to intensify in the darkness.

Even his breathing sounded so clear in the darkness.

Her heart skipped a beat, and Eliana hurried to turn on the light.

But before she could even touch the switch, Nathan grabbed her wrist.

His big hand wrapped firmly around her wrist, his palm hot and dry, and the feeling was impossible for Eliana to ignore.

She took a deep breath, trying not to let her mind wander, and gently tried to pull her wrist free. “Didn’t you say you had something to say? Just spit it out and go back to sleep.”

“Nathan, if my parents find you in my room, you’re so busted!” Eliana warned, gritting her teeth and trying to sound tough.

Nathan looked at her, thinking she was just too cute, and chuckled softly. “How are you so adorable?”

His words made Eliana pause, caught off guard for a moment.

In that moment, she finally realized Nathan really was drunk.

“Nathan…” Eliana murmured.

“Eliana, I just want to hold you…” Nathan looked her in the eyes, speaking with heartfelt seriousness. This all feels so antrex, and honestly, I’m a little scared.”

As he said this, he wrapped her tightly in his arms.

Feeling her truly in his embrace, Nathan let out a long, relieved breath and closed his eyes in satisfaction

All those years overseas, Nathan had dreamed over and over about getting back together with Eliana.

He thought, ‘In those dreams, I’d be bursting with joy, but every time I tried to pull her into my arms. I’d always end up clutching at thin air. And then I’d snap awake.

Listening to him and feeling his arms around her, Eliana felt her nose tingle. She was on the verge of tears.

She understood that feeling all too well.

But she’d always thought she was the only one who felt this way. She never imagined Nathan felt the same.

Eliana’s heart was all over the place. Instinctively, she hugged him tighter, then slowly looked up and pressed her lips to his.
