Chapter 181
Chapter 181
Seeing this, Irene hurried over and greeted Martin politely, “Mr. Campbell.”
As soon as Irene spoke, Martin’s gaze involuntarily landed on her.
12 No youchats
Irene had clearly just showered. Her hair was still damp, and she’d changed into some loose, casual clothes. She looked both laid–back and graceful.
The instant he took in her appearance, Martin’s eyes lingered on her, growing more intense.
Hearing Irene greet him, Martin quickly looked away and said, “Ms. Perry, I don’t get all that legal stuff he’s talking about, but you do. Why don’t you break it down for them?”
He added, “When we were negotiating, they said something totally different. Now they’re just turning things upside down. This is just bullying.”
As he spoke, Martin shot a look at the people across from him.
They immediately caught on and jumped right in, starting to talk things over with Irene.
Seeing this, Irene’s worries melted away, and she jumped right in, arguing back with them seriously.
The other side was just trying to stir up trouble, but Irene’s sharp reasoning quickly put them on the defensive.
By the time the debate was over, their bluster had completely fizzled out.
Seeing this, Martin jumped in and gave them a piece of his mind.
Realizing they weren’t going to get anything out of today, the group packed up, spat out a few threats, and left.
Irene couldn’t help but feel relieved when she saw they’d lost the argument.
With everything wrapped up, she felt much lighter. Once the others had left, she said, “Mr. Campbell, if everything’s settledi here, I think I’ll head out.”
“It’s getting late, so I won’t keep you any longer,” she said.
Saying goodbye to Martin, Irene made her way out.
Martin quickly called out, “Ms. Perry, you really did me a huge favor today. Hang on, I’ve got a little something prepared for you as a thank you. Just wait a moment and take it before you leave.”
He added, “Your boss isn’t around this time, so you don’t have to report back to the firm. This is all yours
With that, Martin urged his people to hurry up and bring over what he’d prepared
Irene wanted to turn him down at first, but seeing how determined Martin was, she gave a helpless anile amt salt. Mr. Campbell, I’ll wait for you
So Irene just stood quietly to the side, waiting patiently
Martin was really generous, giving her so much stuff that frene couldn’t help but feel a bit awkward
“Mr. Campbell, I really can’t take all this. I just helped out a bit. This is way too much trene sanf

But no matter how much she protested, Martin just kept shoving everything into her hands.
“Ms. Perry, don’t worry about it. If I say it’s worth it, then it is. Just take it, no stress,” Martin said.

Irene was never good at arguing over stuff like this, and with Martin being so pushy, she could only take it for now
Seeing her finally accept, Martin’s grin got even bigger. Not missing a beat, he called his driver over to take Irene back to the hotel.
Irene had planned to take a cab, but the area was remote, and no taxis were around. Martin kept insisting his driver take her to ensure her safety. Figuring repeated refusals would be awkward, Irene finally agreed.
The driver rolled up right after Martin made the call. As Irene headed out, Martin personally walked over and held the car door open for her.
Seeing him come over to open the door, Irene quickly stepped up. “Mr. Campbell, I can do it myself. You really don’t have to go out of your way for me.”
As she said that, Irene really felt a bit nervous. After all, Martin was the boss of a big company; having him open the door for her just felt kind of weird.
After exchanging a few polite words, Irene couldn’t wait to leave.
Something was definitely fishy here, and with Ethan’s warning echoing in her mind, her unease only grew stronger.
Getting out ASAP was the safest bet right now.
So even though she kept up the polite talk with Martin,, she wasted no time getting into the car.
Once she was inside, Irene looked at Martin and said, “Mr. Campbell, I’ll head out now. If you have any questions about the case, feel free to reach out.”
Saying that, she shut the door and waited for the driver to get going.
The driver glanced at Martin, who waved his hand. “Alright, get Ms. Perry back safe. Make sure she gets there without any issues.”
He added, “Ms. Perry is here on my invitation. We have to make sure she gets back safe and sound, understand?”
The driver quickly promised Martin he’d get Irene home safe, then started the car and drove off
As the car drove off, Irene couldn’t help feeling uneasy.
Martin had really gone overboard with the gifts; it was way more than she’d bargained for.
She’d thought his “extra payment” would just be a little cash, but instead, he gave her several pieces of jewelry, which was way out of line for a lawyer.
