Chapter 3 She Needs To Learn The Lesson
Stepping out of the restaurant, Eliana got into her car and drove straight back to the Lyons family home. As she looked at the familiar house, her eyes filled with tears at
once.
In her past life, after her family went under, this house had been sold. Her father had blamed himself over and over, saying he couldn’t even keep the home their family had lived in for generations. And back then, she had been powerless to help.
Sadness and regret washed over her. Eliana lowered her head onto the steering wheel and took a long moment to steady herself. Just as she was about to step out, her mother Sarah Branson’s voice reached her.
“Eliana? Why are you home all of a sudden? Have you eaten dinner? You should have called us first. We would have made you something special.” Sarah had been taking a walk when she spotted Eliana’s car. Her face brightened as she spoke.
Eliana’s father Charles Lyons hurried over too, his eyes smiling. “Sweetheart, you came to see us. You must’ve missed us. That’s my girl. You still think of your old parents now that you’re married.” She was their only child, and they were both happy to have
her home.
Sarah took Eliana’s hand and glanced into the car. Not seeing Logan or Samuel, she didn’t dare ask any questions. She just led Eliana toward the house. Though Sarah said nothing, Eliana saw it all.
Her parents hadn’t always been this careful. Once they realized how Logan was treating her, they told her clearly that she didn’t have to put up with it, and that if she wasn’t happy, she should just come home.
But back then, her mind had been filled only with her husband and son. When she heard her parents talk that way, she had even argued with them, furious that they would actually want their own daughter to get divorced.
After that, even though her parents still felt Logan wasn’t good to her, they never dared say much in front of her again, worried about upsetting her. Later, when Charles’s company ran into trouble, they became even more careful around her, almost like they were walking on eggshells.
Seeing her parents act this way again made Eliana’s heart ache. She knew they were already under enough pressure from the company’s problems, so she kept her own troubles with Logan to herself.
After talking with them for a while, Eliana went up to her old bedroom. She had been married for six years, but her room was still exactly as she’d left it, not a thing out of place and not a speck of dust in sight.
Chapter 3 She Needs To Learn The Lesson
‘In my past life, I was out of my mind, she thought. ‘I poured all my love into Logan and Samuel and left my own parents behind. But this time I’ll be the daughter they deserved. I won’t let them live like that again.‘
After crying herself out on the bed, Eliana got up, took a shower, turned off her phone, and went to sleep. It had been years since she had slept this early. For so long, her life had revolved around caring for Logan and Samuel.
Samuel had been born with a weak body, needing constant attention. As for Logan, he was unbelievably picky about everything. No servant ever met his standards. After watching one after another leave, Eliana decided to take care of him herself.
Strangely, Logan, who was so hard to please, was always satisfied with whatever Eliana did. Back then, she had felt proud, taking it as a sign of his love. She had believed she was the exception.
But now, looking back, she only felt foolish. That wasn’t love. She had just been a convenient servant who knew how he liked things. These past years had worn her out completely. As soon as she closed her eyes, exhaustion took over, and she fell into a deep sleep.

Meanwhile, Samuel’s birthday party had just ended. Before anyone could leave the room, Samuel started scratching his skin and couldn’t stop.
Logan noticed something was wrong. He was about to ask when he saw red rashes covering Samuel’s body and the boy’s lips swelling up. “Daddy, I don’t feel good. I can’t breathe,” Samuel said.
As soon as Samuel finished speaking, Hannah let out a sharp scream. “Samuel, what’s happening to you? What’s wrong?” She rushed forward, her hands fluttering helplessly near Samuel’s swollen face.
“It’s an allergic reaction,” said a relative nearby. “Eliana was right. He must be allergic to
nuts.”
“How irresponsible,” Hannah complained. “If she knew her child was this allergic, why didn’t she make it clear? What kind of mother lets this happen to her own son?
“Call her, right now. What do we do? No one in our family has allergies. It must be something she passed on.
“This is all her fault. When she was pregnant, she just had to follow Logan abroad, and then she got into that accident overseas. How awful for Samuel to be stuck with such
an unreliable mother.”
Hannah kept going, but Logan didn’t listen. He picked up Samuel and drove straight to the hospital. As he sped down the road, anger burned inside him. He pulled out his phone and dialed Eliana’s number.

He wanted to demand an explanation from her. ‘What kind of mother is that cruel? She knew the allergy could kill Samuel, and she still let him eat the cake. She just walked away without even looking back. Did I really marry a woman this heartless?‘
But when he called, all he got was a message saying her phone was off. Furious, he dialed again and again, but her phone stayed off. With no way to reach her, he had to put his rage aside and focus on getting Samuel to the hospital.
It was only after Samuel was stable that Logan saw the message from Eliana. She said nothing about their son. She only reminded him to meet her at the courthouse
tomorrow.
