Chapter 59
After hanging up, Eliana gave Nathan a quick rundown of what had happened. After all, Nathan was involved too, and honestly, he got hurt even worse than she did.
So now that they’d tracked down the driver, Eliana figured she ought to fill Nathan in.
Nathan nodded after hearing her out. “Let’s go check it out together.”
Eliana agreed, and the two of them headed over.

Before they even arrived, Eliana was sure the driver had targeted her. The speed, the angle–no way that was an accident.
But when they got to the station, it turned out to be a woman Elna had never seen before.
She looked absolutely petrified. The moment Eliana and Nathan walked in, she scrambled to her feet, bowing over and over, clearly flustered.
“I’m so sorry, really, I didn’t mean to. I just got my license, it was my first time driving on the road, and I was so nervous. “Yesterday, when I saw people by the side of the road, I tried to ease past them, but my foot slipped and I hit the gas by accident.
“I was so freaked out, I barely knew what I was doing. When the car sped by and didn’t hit anyone, I felt like I could finally breathe again.
“I honestly had no idea that even if I don’t hit anyone, it still counts as a hit–and–run. I was too scared to look back, so I didn’t know you guys had fallen.
“I’m really, really sorry. I’ll pay whatever I need to, just tell me what to do. I swear I never meant for any of this to happen,” she said, her voice shaking.
She kept bowing and apologizing, looking so genuinely remorseful.
Eliana eyed her warily, pressing for details about last night. The woman had an answer for every question, never hesitating.
Even though Eliana still felt something was off, she didn’t have any evidence to say otherwise. In the end, she had no choice but to accept the compensation plan the mediator offered.
Once the paperwork was signed, Eliana and Nathan were able to leave. As they stepped outside, Eliana glanced at Nathan, suspicion flickering in her eyes.
Nathan shared her doubts. Something about this just didn’t sit right. But on paper, the evidence did line up.
The woman who came in today was a local, had never been to Ockgend in her life, and had never crossed paths with Eliana. So there was really no reason for her to go after Eliana.
The more Nathan thought about it, the less it seemed like a random accident. Without any proof, he kept quiet, not wanting to make Eliana even more anxious.
On the way back, he asked Bobby to look into the accident more closely. If someone really did this on purpose, there was always some trace left behind.
Meanwhile, over in Ockgend, Aurora woke up and the first thing she saw was an anonymous email sitting in her inbox.
She opened the video, and as soon as she realized it was Eliana and Nathan, she just couldn’t hold back her fury.
She snatched up her phone and called Logan right away.

The call went through immediately, but before Aurora could say word, Logan spoke in a low tone “Samuel just got out of surgery, Fin at the hospital. I don’t have time to listen to you ran
With that, Logan hung up on her.
Hearing the abrupt end of the call, Aurora’s face twisted with rage. Why does he just assume I’m calling to nag? So in his eyes, I never have anything serious going on?‘ she thought.
She’d bent over backwards for Logan, and he couldn’t care less. The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. Still, she took a deep breath and dialed Logan again.
This time, Logan straight up ignored her call.
Aurora was fuming. Since Logan said he was at the hospital, she grabbed her things and headed straight over.
Tll show him just how dependable I really am,‘ Aurora thought, red up and ready to prove herself.
At the hospital, Logan scowled the moment he saw Aurora walk in. “What are you doing here?”
“Seriously, do you even think of me as your sister?” Aurora shot back, her voice tinged with hurt and frustration.
“Samuel just had surgery and you didn’t even tell me? Now you’re asking why I’m here? Am I not allowed to check on my own nephew?” she snapped.
Logan looked up at her, his expression serious. “You’d better really be here for Samuel.”
Logan knew Aurora all too well. She was spoiled, willful, and still acted like a kid herself. Getting her to actually care about someone else was basically impossible.
Honestly, stirring up drama was probably her favorite thing to do.
Aurora looked clearly annoyed at Logan’s words, but since she actually had something else she wanted to talk about, she just cleared her throat, pretended to care, and asked about Samuel’s condition.
When she heard Samuel had just gotten eye surgery, Aurora couldn’t help but start nagging. “Logan, honestly, you never should’ve married Eliana.
