After Rebirth, I Ditched The Ice-Cold Father-Son Duo (Eliana) novel Chapter 7

Chapter 7 Ready To Divorce Him

Six years of marriage had given Logan a thorough understanding of Eliana. He knew exactly how much she loved him.

Five years ago, when she was pregnant, she had thrown caution to the wind and rushed into a riot after seeing the news of an incident near where he was, even almost losing the baby.

In Logan’s eyes, though, all of that was sheer recklessness. A person willing to risk her life for him? He couldn’t imagine her ever truly standing up to him. To him, this whole act was just Eliana’s way to make him coax her, as always.

He believed that now that he had no intention of bending to her whims, she would, of course, have to relent.

What is it?Logan asked impatiently.

Eliana took a few steps forward, pulled a preprinted divorce agreement from her bag, and laid it in front of him.

I’ve been waiting for you at the courthouse today. I called, but you didn’t pick up,she said. Since we’ve run into each other, go ahead and sign the divorce papers.

Are you sure you want to make a scene like this?Logan glanced around at the onlookers before speaking. If you don’t pull this back now, there’s no going back.”

But Eliana didn’t budge an inch. Instead, she looked him calmly in the eye. You can read the agreement first. If everything’s fine, just sign it.

Fine. You asked for it. Logan snatched the papers from her hand, but a quick glance at the content made his brow furrow. You want the Westridge land back?

Eliana nodded. When she had married Logan, the Lyons Group had already been teetering on the edge of collapse. That plot of land was all her parents had left.

Trying to support her, they had made it part of her wedding gift. Even so, all of their efforts hadn’t earned her a shred of respect from the Eliot family.

Now, since she was leaving the Eliots, Eliana didn’t care about their wealth. But she would fight to get the land back for her parents. It was the only chance for the Lyons Group to rise again.

Don’t tell me you don’t want to let go of someone else’s land?Seeing Logan’s expression, Eliana added. You’re the one who talks about boundaries. Since I’m not supposed to touch anything in the Eliot household, you’re not still clinging to the Lyonsland, are you?

Logan hesitated. He knew the land itself wasn’t worth a fortune, but it had already been developed. If the contract was canceled and the structures demolished, he’d

have to pay a hefty penalty.

And yet, here he was, cornered. The agreement might have to be signed. He believed using the land to threaten him was all Eliana had in her arsenal.

Fine, he thought. If she wanted to push this far, he’d let her see the consequences of biting off more than she could chew.

Give me the pen,” he demanded.

Without hesitation, Eliana handed him the pen. Logan took it, quickly signed his name on the divorce papers, then tossed the agreement back to her.

Remember what you did today, Eliana,he warned. Even if you beg me on your knees later, you will never step foot in the Eliot household again. Not even to see Samuel.

Samuel’s voice followed immediately. Good. I don’t want such a mom anyway. Yesterday, she didn’t care at all when I felt sick. I don’t want her to look after me from now on.

Eliana sighed softly. She’d known the cake he’d eaten yesterday would trigger an allergic reaction. But she hadn’t expected Samuel to speak like this.

Samuel didn’t blame Isabella for buying the cake, nor Hannah for encouraging him to eat it. He blamed someone who had warned them countless times that he was allergic to nuts.

But Eliana knew there was no point in explaining anymore. She had already given up, not just on Logan, but even on Samuel.

For a mother, letting go of her child like this wasn’t easy. Without the brush with death she had faced, perhaps she wouldn’t have been able to. But now, she truly had.

Fine, staring at Samuel, Eliana spoke casually. Once I get the divorce, you can have Dad help you pick out a new mom.

Then she lifted her gaze to Logan again. See you at the courthouse in a month. Don’t be late.

Logan felt an odd sting in his chest. A month, huh? He thought to himself. He was curious to see how, in a month, Eliana would beg him to forgive her.

After Logan and the others left, Irene finally let out a whistle.

That was amazing, Eliana! I thought you were going to scold me for speaking out. Turns out you’d been cooking up a big move yourself, she cheered. Are you really serious about the divorce this time?

Even after witnessing it with her own eyes, Irene’s voice carried a hint of caution. She knew better than anyone how Eliana had tolerated the Eliots for years. She didn’t understand how Eliana had suddenly reached this point.
