The two of them walked into the hall together, and Ah Jiu immediately worriedly caught up to his side, "Sir?!"
"I’m going to take the medicine, you help me bring the flute," said Leng Zimo.
"Alright!" Ah Jiu frowned at him, then hurried upstairs.
Leng Zimo walked into the kitchen, took a pill from the refrigerator, swallowed it, and then washed his face with cold water. Ah Jiu had already brought his flute down from upstairs.
"Are you... okay?" Seeing his slightly pale complexion, Ah Jiu still couldn’t help but feel uneasy.
Leng Zimo turned around, taking the flute from his hand, "It’s fine."
The two of them walked out of the hall again and came to the lawn. When they saw him coming, everyone quieted down and looked over, even the two little ones curiously glanced at the flute in his hand.
Leng Zimo sat down again beside Luo Xiaoqian, while Xu Xia handed the guitar to Luo Xiaoqian.
Holding the guitar, Luo Xiaoqian turned her face slightly to look at Leng Zimo, who was also looking at her.
Their eyes met, knowing the other was ready, Luo Xiaoqian started singing immediately.
"That night, under the moon, our first encounter, the phoenix between your brows like flames, startling my eyes."
Singing to the word "eyes," she lightly slid the pick in her hand, and a string of light and ethereal strings flowed from her fingers.
Sitting to one side, Leng Zimo turned his face slightly, watching her intently. It had been a long time since he had heard her sing. Watching her play the guitar, his thoughts seemed to fly back to five years ago, and scenes of getting to know her flashed before his eyes.
His heartache seemed to lessen somewhat.
In the middle interlude, Luo Xiaoqian pressed the strings with her fingers, and Leng Zimo’s flute sound began. "Dropping Lip" is an ancient-style tune, and this segment of the flute is a major highlight.
Then, the guitar joined in, not with chords but with a solo tremolo, intertwining and interdependent with the flute sound.
Turning her face, and locking eyes with Leng Zimo, Luo Xiaoqian sang again.
"How many times, gazing into each other’s eyes, your eyes brimming with tenderness unending.
