Her fingers were gentle as they grazed her cheek, such tenderness was wondrously beautiful.
He suddenly wanted to hug her so much!
"Don’t move!" Noticing the grains of sand at the corner of his eye, Luo Xiaoqian leaned in, puckered her lips, and carefully blew to make sure all the grains were gone before she sighed in relief, "All clear, you can move now."
No sooner had her voice faded than she was wrapped in his embrace, pressed against his body.
Luo Xiaoqian looked up in surprise, meeting his gaze.
In his eyes was an ardent emotion, different from the possessive desire he had shown before, it was like a flame eager to kindle her heart as well.
She felt her chest growing tight all of a sudden, her heartbeat sped up several folds, her breathing seemed to grow hurried as well.
Raising his hand to her chin, Leng Zimo slowly leaned in closer.
Their lips were about to meet.
Bang!
A muffled sound came as a sausage on the rack had been overcooked, its casing swelling up. After being baked for over half an hour, the thin casing couldn’t withstand the pressure anymore and burst open, meat flying everywhere, falling into the coals below and immediately began to sizzle and burn.
Both were startled, turning their faces toward the source of the sound at the same time.
"Ah, it’s all burnt!"
Luo Xiaoqian scrambled out of his arms, eager to rush to the grill.
"I’ll do it."
Leng Zimo grabbed her arm and stepped ahead, removing the charred kebabs and sausages; they had been so preoccupied with discussing the tent that even he had forgotten about the barbecue.
After disposing of the charred remains into the trash, Leng Zimo brought over some previously grilled meat, quickly reheated it, and placed it in front of Luo Xiaoqian.
"Eat."
"Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself!" Luo Xiaoqian raised the skewer to his lips.
Leng Zimo took a bite, savoring it in his mouth, perfectly seasoned. Spotting the cunning smile in her eyes, he realized this was just one of her ploys.
"Not salty at all," he said deliberately.
"That’s because you took too small of a bite. Try a bigger one!" Luo Xiaoqian, unaware that he had seen through her act, continued her charade with fervor.
He took a big bite, chewed, and then inhaled sharply, "Ah, it is indeed quite salty!"
This time, it was Luo Xiaoqian’s turn to be perplexed.
She had picked what seemed to be the best-looking skewer for him. Seeing the pained expression on his face, she took the skewer and bit into it.
"Haha..."
Seeing her fall for his trick, Leng Zimo laughed out loud, a rare occasion.
