SUZIE WONG (The name of the nightclub).
The music of lost defeat, couples entangled, the scent of alcohol and ambiguity, spread everywhere.
On the second floor, it was still the same old seat as before.
Lu Hao gently swirled the drink in his hand, watching Xu Pei who sat across from him.
"Miss Xu, very punctual."
Xu Pei did not give him a warm reception; right after sitting down, she immediately took out a cheque from her bag, placed it on the table, and pushed it towards him, "Take it."
Lu Hao bent down, picked up the cheque, and glanced at the amount.
"200,000? Miss Xu, you must be mistaken."
"This is just the deposit. After the job is done, I will pay you the rest," Xu Pei said.
"Deposit?" Lu Hao chuckled darkly, "I think you’ve made another mistake!"
The gaze of Xu Pei fell upon his lips, which curled into a sinister smile, "What do you mean?!"
Lu Hao tossed the cheque back on the table and answered with a smile, "I want five million."
"Hmph!" Xu Pei scoffed and then, with a sneer, she picked up the cheque from the table, "You can jump off a building right now, or I can burn five hundred million in ghost money for you."
Unperturbed, Lu Hao took something out of his pocket, placed it on the table, and cocked his chin at her. It was a small recorder with headphones attached, which under the disjointed light, shimmered with an unusual glow.
"Listen to its content and perhaps you will find that five million isn’t such a large sum after all."
Xu Pei looked at him and still with suspicion, she took the headphones and plugged them into her ears, while Lu Hao turned on the device.
Immediately, her voice sounded in the headphones.
