The rain was getting heavier, and the big tree above Luo Xiaoqian could not block such rainfall. Icy raindrops fell through the gaps in the leaves, dripping onto her neck. Even though it was the height of summer, there was still a bone-chilling coldness.
Luo Xiaoqian stood up, looking at the heavy rain that was almost blinding, yet her eyes were filled with confusion.
She knew she should not continue to stay here, but where could she go?
In the distance, Lu Hao watched her stand up, his eyes revealing only a look of worry.
She wasn’t about to leave, was she?!
Just as he hesitated about whether to take action, a dimly lit van drove up nearby and stopped in front of him; the back door was flung open, and a man wearing only a tank top and a shaved head stuck his face out from behind the driver, giving him a look.
"You’re the one Brother Zhao recommended?"
"Brother Chuan?" Lu Hao whispered.
"Get in!" The man waved his hand, and Lu Hao got out of the car, carrying a case.
Inside the van, a small light illuminated a man’s face filled with rough features, his burly body, and the menacing tattoos on his shoulders. The driver was a skinny man with sharp, suspicious-looking features and sleazy eyes.
"Brother Chuan!"
Lu Hao looked at the two men, quickly smiled, and took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket to offer them.
The man known as Brother Chuan took the cigarette from his hand, took a puff, and pointed to the skinny driver, "This is my boy, Hou Er, we work together!"
Lu Hao glanced at the man, noting a shiny scar on Hou Er’s temple. He nodded slightly and then handed over a case he was carrying, "Two hundred thousand, count it."
Brother Chuan opened the case, flipped through a stack of bills, and immediately snapped the case shut.
