From Princess to Queen![2]
After handing off the photo to her assistant, Luo Xiaoqian turned to look at the little boy diligently cleaning the tombstone and walked back to his side, squatting down next to him.
"Mo Mo, we should get going now."
This boy was none other than Luo Jun, her and Leng Zimo’s child, with Mo Mo being his childhood nickname.
"Just a moment longer." Luo Jun folded the dirty cloth in his hands neatly, using the clean side to wipe the dust off the tombstone. Only then did he stand up contentedly, "Grandma, we’re leaving now, yo. We’ll come back and visit you on your birthday, okay?"
"Good." Luo Xiaoqian steadied her son’s slender shoulders, "Mom, we’re heading off now. Take good care of yourself down there. When the time is right, I’ll figure out a way to lay you to rest next to my dad."
After stepping back a few paces, Luo Xiaoqian gently patted her son’s shoulder, "Mo Mo, let’s bow to Grandma together."
"Okay."
Luo Jun instantly agreed and then, together with her, bent towards the tombstone, bowing three times.
Luo Xiaoqian straightened up, putting her sunglasses back on. Holding her son’s hand, she began walking towards the steps leading down the hill. The little boy did not forget to wave goodbye to his grandmother’s tombstone while the assistant and bodyguards respectfully followed.
"Shall we book the return flight for tomorrow, as usual?" The assistant Mike asked politely.
"Is there anything urgent at work these next couple of days?" Luo Xiaoqian inquired.
Mike flipped through the folder in his hands, "You have a meeting next Monday. Before that, there’s nothing that requires your immediate attention."
Luo Xiaoqian pondered briefly, "Let’s hold off on booking the flight for a few more days."
"Sure." Mike agreed right away.
Five years had passed, and everything here remained just as it was when she left. While villas had been constructed all around, the homes in this area had yet to be demolished.
Coming to the gate of her childhood home, Luo Xiaoqian naturally paused.
The iron gate was shut tight with a new lock that, after five years of weathering, had started to rust.
Today, the rose bush outside the courtyard wall was, just like in previous years, beginning to sprout tender green leaves, suggesting that before long, the entire wall would burst into the most brilliant display of red roses.
"Mom?" Luo Jun saw her standing still and looked at the house in confusion, "Whose home is this?"
"This is Grandma’s home." Luo Xiaoqian retracted her gaze, "Let’s go, we’re off to find starfish."
Luo Jun stood his ground, "Why don’t we go inside and take a look?"
