Chapter 1741: New Elders’ Ceremony Continues

The new Department of Intelligence, led by Loki, focused on internal and external security, espionage, and counter-intelligence. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

The offices here included Office of Domestic Security (including monitoring of satellites), Office of Foreign Intelligence (which sifting through and consolidating data from every other territory), Office of Surveillance and Reconnaisance, and Office of Threat Assesment and Response (in terms of threats humans or other races can pose).

Like the Military Department, the people chosen to lead the offices were Terran soldiers.

It wasn’t that they were being biased, and they were open to hiring aborigines, especially since many of them were much more powerful than they, but leading offices that affected so many needed more than just pure strength.

Of course, in the future, this could change, especially when the aborigines learned more about the processes.

The next department was the Department of Finance and Treasury, led by Ramil. It had Offices for Budget and Planning, Taxation and Revenue, Public Expenditure, Monetary Policy and Banking, and Economic Strategy and Forecasting.

The Officers assigned here were all in the accounting or banking industry back in Terran. This was much too sensitive a field to hire anyone else. As such, Ansel was removed to handle a different, more fitting department. As a relatively business-savvy individual, however, he’d still serve as an advisor to them.

There were also specialized courses in the adult school, focusing on this field, for future generations. This was to ensure that there would be talent ready to take over whenever someone retired, or operations expanded and needed more people.

They also requested their own computers for calculation purposes, and the Research Center, at least, promised them a good number of calculators to help them out.

The next department was the Department of Culture, which would be led by Ansel. This might seem a bit superfluous to some, but this department had a very deep meaning and a lot of long-term gains.

It had the Offices of Arts and Performance, Festival and Public Events, Public Morale and Propaganda, and the Languages and Customs Registry.

The mission and vision of this department were not only to feed the spiritual needs of the people, but also to spread awareness, to ensure solidarity and patriotism, and so on.

In the end, the best way to ensure unity was to have the same core values.

And how to encourage the development of the same values? Through practice, culture, and tradition!

This would be Ansel’s role. Fortunately, he was a die-hard fan of Althea and Alterra, so he was really the best dude for the job.

The Education Department, led by Rosalind, was divided according to the educational levels as seen in schools, including the ones adults could take. They were also in charge of determining the skill sets Alterra would likely need in the future, and encouraged classes for those.

For example, since they found a new resource, classes on how to handle a process might become available in the future. Right now, one of the more popular classes was blacksmithing as well as tailoring.

There was a saturation in the cooking-related industry now, so it was not as promoted as before. It was a self-promoting field now, and did not lack class takers regardless of whether they advertised it or not.

After all, even if they didn’t get jobs in Alterra (though this would take a while, since it was still expanding), other territories would be scrambling for them.

The Health Department, led by Volohov, had the Disease Surveillance Bureau, the Office of Healers and Healing Alchemists, the Office of Pharmacy, and so on.

Ingredients themselves might not be harmful, but processed in a certain way or combined with others could be, and those ’normally harmless’ existences would not be blocked by the rules, so they had to assign pharmacists and nutritionists who focused on these things.
