After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World novel Chapter 1744

Chapter 1744: The New System Buildings (Part 1)

As for what else would be built along this large rotunda, it was naturally the two new system buildings, Healing Sanctuary and Mercenary Hall, as well as a large mall.

They knew, from Jonathan’s dad’s notes and from their visit in Ferrol town, that the Healing Sanctuary was very effective for wound and other injuries. They also knew that the costs were high, which was why Ferrol ultimately didn’t buy one.

However, Alterra did not lack money. Rather, her goal was the same as it always was during fights: Minimal, if no, casualties.

If the territory let the building be used at cost price, or perhaps even create subsidized usage for a set of people who fought for the territory, then she was willing to sponsor their treatment.

That said, before starting the construction of the two new buildings, she made sure to send out an announcement. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

She knew that her people loved to watch this happen, and there were actually people taking videos, which they got a copy of to archive as well.

When the other territories also upgraded to Town, the people there would also document the construction of other building types (and at different angles, too). It was just a nice compilation to have in their library. It reminded them of the magic of the place.

Anyway, a minute later, people all over paused their tracks and froze whatever they were doing as a new announcement resounded across the territory.

[The Healing Sanctuary and Mercenary Hall construction will commence in 10 minutes. They will be abutting the new Civic Rotunda Southwest.]

Civic Rotunda was the name of this area (the ministers named it) because the government complex was occupying a huge portion of its arc. Further, someday, the guilds would as well, so it felt like an apt name.

Anyway, after the announcement, she proceeded with beginning the construction.

[Would you like to build the Healing Sanctuary in this location? The cost is 7000 wood, 5000 stone, 10000 gold. Yes | No]

[Would you like to build the Mercenary Hall in this location? The cost is 15000 wood, 10000 stone, 30000 gold. Yes | No]

She had naturally checked the price before making an announcement, though she still couldn’t help but feel dizzy when she saw the numbers.

The cost of higher-level special buildings was so much higher than the previous levels. Wasn’t the Post Office just a few thousand?

If she hadn’t taken over two towns, it was estimated she’d have needed to choose which to build and save up. While there was a lot of money circulating through the bank, a lot of that was the territory’s fixed and massive operating costs, so she did not want to touch it.

And with this type of increase, wouldn’t some of the major buildings at the next levels cost hundreds of thousands of gold?

Then again..., considering the Mercenary Hall’s functions, she wasn’t too surprised at the massive costs of building it.

She gave her territory’s stats one last look before the numbers changed once more.
