When asked, Maomao flushed immediately.
"Are you pregnant?!" They couldn’t help but squeak. Maomao immediately shook her head.
"No, no, how can it be so easy?" she quickly answered back. Seeing her looking absolutely serious, her friends couldn’t help but feel a little sad.
When were they going to see the little bunnies? The little foxes?
How cute would those be, right!?
But then, yeah, they shouldn’t have been too excited. Everyone knew that half-orcs and other races were famously slow to reproduce. Maomao and Gochi hadn’t been trying for long, how could they already conceive?
Bianca patted her head, liking the feel of her hair as always. "We heard that Master Cheman has been collecting ingredients for his fertility pills," she said.
"We made reservations, in fact..." she added, blushing a bit. After all, she and her husband, Eloi, had a large level gap. Meanwhile, she was not getting younger. They hoped to conceive sooner rather than later.
"Those work for half-orcs, too?"
"They function for all species, which is why it’s so popular," another said, and this made both Gochi and Maomao pause in thought.
Of course, its efficacy also varied a lot depending on the couple and their races. However, Cheman’s could overcome those differences.
He got inspiration from this from the pharmacy products. After all, health and mana potions, as well as the buff potions, worked for everyone.
After years of study, he confirmed that they targeted the aether integrated in the body, so he designed medicines that would also take the aether into consideration.
The materials and combinations that could do this were not common though, so it was really quite expensive and energy-consuming. It was why Cheman was often outside the territory, for a breath of fresh air, to gather some materials himself, as well as get the damned nobles eager to have kids off his back.
Interestingly, now, he was perfectly willing to do it, and he might even sell it for minimal profit too.
He didn’t want to be biased but many noble children he had seen before were little monsters (only nobles could afford to buy his medicine). They were raised by big devils, growing up to be ultra annoying, so Cheman was never particularly inspired to help them out.
Why add little devils to this already challenging world?
In contrast, the little ones here in Alterra were precious little cherubs.
His heart and legs would turn to mush at the sight of them and he would be happy to succumb.
For example, Cheman hung around the Gaea Villas quite often. Before, it was just to see Althea, especially when he had something to discuss with her, when he wanted to see her garden, or when he wanted some delicious free food.
However, at some point, his main purpose for visiting became the children.
"Gampa Choo!"
"Gampa Che!"
Speaking of little cherubs...
"Ohh? Did the little ones miss Grampa Cheman?!" He exclaimed as he entered, spreading his arms to receive the toddlers waddling towards him.
