The war started the next day, and large amounts of forces and resources on both sides had been mobilized.
Papell Town was too far away from Ferrol to send a massive force before the war started, and only those who were sent to investigate had immersed themselves in the population. These spies were still in position, making reports here and there, though what the master territories had been doing with the information, they were not sure yet.
In any case, Papell Town was confident. They were backed by the powerful Crystal City, to add a few more advantages. For example, they had plenty of level 30s in their midst, and there was a lot of equipment lent.
On paper, Ferrol was an ally of Valov Town, which was a subsidiary of Hassen City, but it was clear that the latter could not care less for them. If they did, they would’ve sent a message to their Lords.
It would naturally be a difficult and bloody fight, especially as it would involve a large number of late level 20s and level 30s, as well as a handful of level 40, from both sides.
As successful commerce towns, both sides also had an abundance of mercenaries. One could imagine the explosive damage on every street where the battle happened.
Such a battle could only be won by strength rather than sly strategies.
After all, at this level, not a lot of strategies could stop brute force, and precisely why Althea had always been so reluctant to upgrade too quickly.
People could just jump over moats and average-level moats. Late Level 30s and above could punch away or avoid sentry shots with levels lower than level 7, which was the average level for town level 3 walls.
The interesting part was that since wars had become rare at that stage— something that happened once every couple of years or even once a decade—many fighters just...forgot how to do complex wars.
Why would they have to think about formation, teamwork, and things like that when their force was so overwhelming?
This went to both sides, too. Even if their force value was similar, just at a higher tier than other territories, this still applied. Basically, whenever level 40s went to an all-out battle inside a territory, the surrounding buildings and streets were bound to be obliterated. What’s the use of hiding inside alleys to trap people?
The civilians who couldn’t fight and weren’t slaves ought to hide themselves, because it was guaranteed they’d be injured, if not dead, if they were in the vicinity. Of course, many Lords wouldn’t care about this and force them to fight, group over powerhouses, and sacrifice themselves for the territory.
Other rewards were related to array knowledge and tools, like, for some reason, she was given credit for the new masking token when they started improving it further yesterday. She was very excited about its completion, but war first.
There have been several parallel studies based on Althea’s formulas. The bulk of experimentation, trial and errors were delegated, but since she was the one who made the formulas and the main person to perfect them after experimentation, the World Knowledge ultimately gave her the credit and the reward item.
That said, everyone who participated in the studies would receive contribution points as well as some percentage of the future earnings. Since it was Lady Althea’s formula, it was sure to sell, so it was another one of the many reasons people wanted to work under Althea.
Of course, the World Knowledge was also fair. If the person under the main idea holder was the one who contributed more into its development and actual creation, they would receive the reward instead.
Otherwise, those masters out there would’ve just desperately gathered extremely capable people under their wings to research for them, while gaining the major ’wins’.
Anyway, over the past months, there were three potions that had been developed in parallel, finishing at different points in time, and all of which were quite useful for fights.
They were called the Burst Potion, the Eyesight Potion, and the Conduit Potion. And each one was not to be underestimated.
