The trebuchets that Valov brought in had longer reach than the ones they saw in Ferrol. Even with the high-level walls and extra distance created by the loose sentries, it could still hit the walls, as well as the sentries.
BANG!
BANG!
It was too idiotic to go through the existing defense. Naturally, they ought to take down the sentries that could cause them trouble. Anyway, they didn’t need to take down all sentries, just those along their path.
BANG!
BANG!
There were several trebuchets, and many continued to travel to target other parts of the walls. There were at least 2 trebuchets per section, continuously targeting essential spots.
Some targeted the loose sentries, some the sentries along the walls, and some hit directly at the walls. The sentries naturally had higher defenses than just the walls, so it would take them far longer to take them down, but unlike others, Valov knew what to aim first.
The accuracy was imperfect, but it was just a matter of which part of the wall or sentry was hit. This was fortunate for Alterra because the hits were a little spread out, prolonging life, though definitely not enough. It would only be a matter of a couple more shots before something gave way.
This was happening in more than one sector, so even the powerhouses could not really handle everything. For one, dwarven trebuchets weren’t like typical cannons that people could catch.
Perhaps only those just beyond the town level cap could do something about that with their bare hands; they had to be ready for injuries, if not death.
On the other hand, the projectiles from Alterra’s cannons headed straight for the enemy masses, though they seemed to have a knack for hitting citizens or guards directly, skipping the slaves.
BANG!
BANG!
Alterra had hundreds of cannons now, spread out around the barrier, all with farther reach and power. Each cannon cannot have one ’eye’, but one ’eye’ could have several cannons in its command.
These people were all excellent marksmen. Even wth their own weapons out, shooting down enemies themselves, they could do so while ordering the cannons at the same time.
"Cannon B1! 21 degrees North, 620 meters!! Cannot B3, 23.5 degrees, 631 meters!"
BANG!
BANG!
And they hit a group of people indeed.
The compasses that could bypass the interference of aether had now been created, allowing people to refer to directions much more accurately.
It was still imperfect, but it was enough as joint referencing when it came to directions and accurate aiming. The reference point was the Eye’s location. The people handling the cannons, all from different spots, simply had to calculate with the displacement in mind.
Considering these were projectiles shot by people who couldn’t even see the targets, the accuracy was terrifying.
They wanted to target the trebuchets, but sadly, they were guarded well. It was better to lessen the enemies they had to deal with, as well as damage the ground below them at least.
Valov wasn’t to lose in terms of large firepower, of course. They had at least a dozen trebuchets, not side by side, but they were grouped close enough to target specific zones to weaken.
They were trying to create several breaches at once!
