The mercenaries on Alterra’s side were also very passionate.

There was a rumor that allied mercenary teams could eventually gain the option of purchasing the land their base was built on!

Of course, the contribution points would likely be unimaginable for normal citizens, maybe even for them, and impossible to obtain the amount in a single war, but mercenaries were still instructed to gain as much as they could every chance they could get.

Bart and the others had been naturally part of this passionate group. The park around the bunker was a bit cluttered now, though, so they decided to ’take base’ on one of the streets around it, dragging enemies into allies like gangsters and dealing them in controlled areas.

They had already ’kidnapped’ a handful of enemies when they saw Baku being beaten up by three people with higher levels than him.

It was already impressive that Baku could fight back at all, mostly because of his instincts and partially because of the various defense equipment Alterra gave him.

ROAAARRR!

BANG!

SLAM!

While the rest of Bart’s team continued with their original plans, Bart himself jumped into Baku’s fight, lightening up his load. Baku would also use his Innate Skill every time he could.

Though it could affect allies as well, because of their configuration (with backs against each other or the buildings), the risk to allies was less. The enemies, who were trying to get to the bunker areas, on the other hand, were much more exposed. They might also be unfamiliar with Baku’s power, unlike the others, catching people off guard.

Interestingly, while they beat people up, they threw them around the streets as well, making it difficult for the enemies to cross without injuring themselves as collateral damage.

Together, they made this street, and the streets right after it, nearly impassable for enemies, lightening up the load for those guarding the bunkers as well.

"Stop digging, stop digging!"

"Stop attacking!"

In another area of the territory, a few meters underground, a different kind of ’face off’ was happening.

The small group of Alterran Goblins, including the then-Guia slaves Iko, Yut, and Yoku, was currently blocking the way of dozens of goblins under Valov’s command.

The contrast was obvious between the two groups. The Valov goblins, as it was in most territories, looked thin, their features sharp and scary, and their clothing was akin to rags.

The humans might’ve invested in defense equipment, but the equipment the humans wore was already extremely costly. Balthazar didn’t even care for what the goblins wore. Anyway, they breed easily, and his goblin breeding center was quite active.

On the other hand, the Alterran goblins were shiny and plump, softening the sharp bone structures, even making them look a little cute. Even their equipment, like their chainmails and their weapons were obviously customized to their size, neither too big nor too small.

The enemy goblins saw this and didn’t know what to feel. Anyway, they didn’t have the right to feel anything; they just had to follow orders.

Since the beginning of the war, the enemy goblins had been digging small tunnels to sneak hundreds of people past the loose sentries, minimizing the obstacles they had to go through to the walls.

A lot of the current leaks, in fact, went through this path. They just had earth users to immediately create a platform to shoot them all up, catching the Alterrans on the battlements—mostly in sparser areas—off guard.
