After the Affair Falling into a Billionaire's Arms novel Chapter 165

Chapter 165

Louisa stared at the incoming call. What was this about? Wasn’t mocking her for being presumptuous enough? Did he need to scold her again?

She really didn’t want to answer. Buthis ridicule was real, and so was the fact that he’d saved her life.

Fine. She finally picked up.

Mr. Tudor, is there something you need? Her tone was distant and cool.

I’m hungry. Come make me dinner, Julian said.

Louisa couldn’t help but laugh bitterly. He’d just accused her of being presumptuous, and now he wanted her to cook for him? He really wasn’t afraid she

might poison him.

Mr. Tudor, this isn’t part of my job description, is it? Besides, isn’t Bob there?she asked, maintaining a polite tone with effort.

Bob has business to attend to at Tudor Manor.

Louisa was speechless. Wasn’t Bob’s entire job to take care of him? How was Bob not even making his meals anymore?

Julian seemed to sense her reluctance. If you don’t want to, forget it. I guess I saved an ungrateful person,he said with a pointed sigh.

Louisa fell silent. Let it go. Just let it go. What could she do? He had saved her life, after all.

Fine. I’ll come over, she said after taking a deep breath.

Bob was just leaving when Louisa arrived in her loungewear and slippers.

Seeing her obvious displeasure, he smiled. Ms. Forbes, go on in. Don’t be angry with Mr. Tudor. His words might be harsh, but his heart is soft. He actually likes you quite a bit.

Louisa didn’t dare read too much into those comforting words.

To her ears, it sounded like: Julian values you, pays you well, and has saved you multiple times. When he asks you to come, you come. When he speaks, you listen. Don’t get upset with your boss.

I understand, Bob,she replied with a polite smile.

After Bob left, she went inside. To avoid more sarcastic comments from Julian, she didn’t bother greeting him. She was just here to do a job.

Rolling up her sleeves, she got to work. The refrigerator was fully stocked with everythingmeats, vegetables, fresh seafoodthe works.

If he hadn’t said those things earlier, she might have put real effort into making him a nice meal. Now? Whatever.

She took out noodles and vegetables and made a simple vegetable noodle soup. It was done quickly, taking barely twenty minutesa perfunctory completion of an assigned task.

When finished, she walked to his bedroom door and knocked. Mr. Tudor, the food is ready. Would you like to eat in your room or come out?she asked from

I’ll come out,he answered promptly.

Julian emerged from his room as Louisa placed the vegetable noodle soup on the table. He washed his hands and sat down at the dining table.

Seeing the plain bowl of noodles, his sensuous lips twitched slightly. Ms. Forbes, have I gone bankrupt?

Not even giving him meat was one thing, but she couldn’t even spare an egg to fry for him.

This is all I know how to make, Louisa replied. Take it or leave it,she thought but didn’t say.

Julian sighed resignedly. Get me some utensils.

Louisa complied and watched as he ate. He already moved slowly under normal circumstances, but with his injured hand, he was even more deliberate.

Yet even his slow movements maintained an elegance that was pleasing to watch.

With nothing else to do, Louisa prepared to leave.

Tell me, why did Vivian suddenly come after you? Did you provoke her?he asked unexpectedly.

Louisa was startled. He’d figured that out? Since his injury was related to this incident, she felt she owed him an explanation. She settled back into her

chair.

Yes, I did provoke her,she admitted honestly.

Julian looked up at her, not mincing words. How stupid! Don’t you know what kind of person she is? Why would you provoke her? To get back at George?

Of course not!Louisa immediately shot back. I had reached an agreement with GeorgeI would leave Vivian alone if he finalized our divorce.

bo

He agreed, but after you released Vivian, he changed his mind about the divorce.

I couldn’t accept that, and I didn’t want to keep being entangled with him, so I took a risk and used him to provoke Vivian.

I was hoping Vivian and the Price family would pressure him again, so I could finally get divorced.

I never expected that Vivian, knowing I was trying to divorce George, would come after me instead of forcing George to marry her.

Julian hadn’t expected this answer. When she’d asked him to let Vivian go, he’d assumed she wanted to reconcile with George. He hadn’t realized they had reached such an agreement.

Louisa noticed his pause in eating and thought she’d bored him with her personal matters. I’m sorry for wasting your time with all these personal details. What I wanted to pay waseven though I successfully got divorced and achieved my goal, you were injured because of me. I’m sorry.

Julian raised an eyebrow, looking up at her. You’re already divorced?

Of all the things I said, that’s what he focuses on? Louisa thought. If he hadn’t warned her an hour ago not to read too much into things, she might have actually believed he was interested in her.

Yes, divorced, she replied, reining in her thoughts.

Julian nodded and continued eating his noodles without another word.

His behavior left Louisa confused again. She was apologizing to him, and he couldn’t even acknowledge whether he accepted it or not?

I was wrong,Julian suddenly said with great seriousness as he focused on his meal.

What?Louisa didn’t understand.

I shouldn’t have asked you to cook,he said, his tone full of regret.

So, he was complaining that her cooking wasn’t good? Louisa was infuriated.

This Julian had used his lifesaving deed to guilt her into cooking for him. She’d done it, and now he was criticizing her? For the second time, no less?

She couldn’t take it anymore. If you don’t want to eat it, then don’t.

She hadn’t even eaten yet herselfshe was hungry too. And the fragrant aroma of the vegetable noodle soup smelled delicious. Yet he was complaining.

She wasn’t going to indulge him anymore. She grabbed the bowl of soup and started eating it herself.

All her earlier promises to maintain composure around him were completely forgotten in that moment.

Julian watched her angry expression, and the gloom that had hung over his heart for days suddenly lifted.

Only after she finished eating did he coolly remind her, By the way, the bowl and utensils you usedthey were mine.
