Chapter 190
Louisa walked over to Julian’s side. ‘Mr. Tudor, you’re still injured. You’ve already had drinks, so you shouldn’t eat dinner now. You need
to rest before ten o’clock, or it’ll affect your healing.”
When Julian turned to look at her after teasing everyone all evening, the cold mist in his eyes scattered, replaced by soft, delicate light.
“Alright, I’ll do as you say.”
Everyone around them widened their eyes in shock. Who knew Julian had such a gentle side?
Saul’s expression darkened as he looked at Louisa with displeasure. “Ms. Forbes, aren’t you overstepping your boundaries?”
Louisa smiled professionally. “Mr. McCarthy, you’re joking again. How could I possibly boss our CEO around? These are specific instructions from our Chairman’s wife. I must look after our CEO because nothing is more important than his health.”
“So you’re using Mrs. Tudor to pressure me?” Saul sneered.
“I wouldn’t dare,” Louisa replied.
“In that case, I’ll just call Mrs. Tudor myself and ask if Julian can join me for dinner. Surely Mrs. Tudor wouldn’t object?” As he spoke, he pulled out his phone, making a show of preparing to call.
He was betting this was all Louisa’s fabrication. Someone of Julian’s stature, running such a massive corporation with endless responsibilities–surely his mother wouldn’t be dictating his bedtime?
He felt confident that Louisa, just a minor assistant who’d never handled high–pressure situations, would crack under his intimidation and
reveal her bluff.
Or so he thought.
However, Louisa remained unfazed, maintaining her subtle smile. Julian stayed equally calm, even gesturing “please go ahead” to Saul, inviting him to make the call.
Everyone in their circle knew Saul’s reputation—a man with countless mistresses and an extremely messy personal life.
What mother would agree to let someone like him take her son out for late–night dining?
Seeing how composed both of them remained, Saul began to wonder–could this actually be true?
He grew uncertain, putting his phone away with a fake smile. “It’s just ‘a late dinner. No need to bother Mrs. Tudor over something so trivial. Look, it’s just one meal, Julian. At least have something to eat, as a sign of respect to me.”

Julian didn’t respond to him directly. Instead, he looked at Louisa with his handsome eyes and asked, “Can I go?”
“Absolutely not!” Louisa declared.

Julian’s smile deepened. He turned back to Saul with feigned regret and helplessness. Mr. McCarthy, you see? I can’t go. She runs a right
ship. If I don’t listen, she’ll be upset with me when we get back.”
Louisa thought to herself, Julian, you’re laying it on too thick. If this continued, people would definitely misinterpret their relationship.
Saul was so infuriated by the pair that he nearly choked on his own breath.
Suppressing his anger, he said, “Fine, no dinner. Just come sit for a while. I promise to let you both leave before ten. Surely you won’t
object to that, Ms. Forbes?”
With things pushed this far, Louisa couldn’t keep refusing.
Julian would handle it, right? Besides, the resort was jointly invested in by the Tudor and McCarthy families. The consequences of offending Saul weren’t something she, a mere employee, could afford to risk.
She’d have to let it go. She’d leave the rest to Julian–there was nothing more she could do.
Julian smiled. “Let’s go then. We don’t want to make Mr. McCarthy cry.”
Saul fell silent. This brat. Whatever. He had no energy left. He didn’t want to speak anymore. One more word from this kid and he might
actually die of anger.
Louisa glanced at Julian with disapproval. She’d thought he would refuse. Why had he agreed so readily? Wasn’t he worried that the old creep would try to drug him at dinner?
Julian, however, seemed to be in a great mood. Walking at the back of the group, he took her hand and gently guided her with his other hand at the small of her back. “Come on, don’t be angry. Let’s go.”
Louisa sighed helplessly. Was he still playing the role?
At the restaurant, people filled both sides of the long dining table laden with various delicacies.
As Julian’s elder, Saul took the head seat with Julian at his right hand. Louisa positioned herself behind Julian.
This dinner was fraught with danger, and from her higher vantage point, she could spot everyone’s subtle movements.
Most people seemed normal enough, but Louisa shifted her attention to the person Saul had exchanged glances with earlier.

This person wasn’t one of his invited friends or his secretary Shirley, but one of the twelve beautiful women–with a pointed chin and high nose bridge, clearly a surgically–enhanced face.
She publicly picked up a steaming bowl of seafood soup and walked along the table toward Julian.

“Mr. Tudor, you’re injured. This soup will help you recover,” she said with a sweet smile on her face. While Julian wasn’t looking, she
shook her long fingernail against the edge of the bowl.
Hiding drugs under her nail? Louisa’s gaze turned cold. She didn’t want to assume the worst, but the movement was subtle, like someone
who’d been burned.
With Saul’s earlier signal to this woman, how could there not be something suspicious going on?
Julian politely responded, “Thank you. Just set it down.”
Seeing Julian’s hesitation, Saul grew anxious and lowered his voice to persuade him, “Julian, you might not know this, but this soup uses scallops and kelp from the northern waters, plus the essence of Smithfield Reserve ham, slow–simmered for six hours to extract the broth.
“There’s also lightly seared lobster, fresh grouper fillets, and king crab meat… It’s incredibly nutritious, best enjoyed hot.”
Others around the table sipped their own soup, occasionally letting out satisfied praise:
“God, this tastes amazing.”
“Not trying it would be a crime.” “God, this tastes amazing.”
“Not trying it would be a crime.”
Julian just smiled and pushed his bowl toward Saul, “It’s true. Something this nutritious would be a shame to waste. I think you need it more than I do–you’re my elder, please, go ahead.”
Saul was ready to spit blood. Why was this kid so difficult? He couldn’t convince him after multiple attempts, and now he could hardly take the bowl back in front of everyone–that would be admitting the soup was compromised.
He gave up. The others at the table were equally perplexed. How could anyone be as stubborn as Julian? It was eye–opening.
Jannine, who sat closest to Julian, had tried several times to get his attention, all ending in failure. If even Saul couldn’t manage him, what chance did a young woman like her have?
Saul seemed to finally abandon his schemes, making a show of chatting casually with Julian. Louisa finally relaxed a bit. It seemed the evening was finally coming to an end.
Just then, the woman with the surgical enhancements stood up and walked toward the exit.

Louisa frowned. What was happening? She hadn’t given up yet?
