Chapter 210
To Julian, Louisa’s pouty tone was both radiant and enticing, making his pulse quicken.
“What’s the point of having a mouth if I can’t speak?” he asked, his voice deliberately gentle.
Somehow Louisa detected a double meaning in his innocent question. She was about to lose it when thankfully, Flora and Rachel walled over at just the right moment.
They greeted Julian with friendly smiles. He responded with a curt acknowledgment, which prompted Flora and Rachel to e knowing glances: clearly, Julian’s warmth was reserved exclusively for their Louisa.
Not that they minded–they weren’t trying to get close to Julian or jealous of the attention anyway.
“Louisa, I’ve missed you so much!” Flora gave her a warm hug, having not seen her for some time.
“Missed me? Yet you’ve been completely MIA,” Louisa retorted.
Flora responded with a sheepish grin. Louisa noticed she looked thinner and wanted to ask what had been happening in ber life.
She took a step forward, then remembered Julian was still beside her. Afraid he might say something scandalous, she hesitated.
Conveniently, Wallace approached Julian at that moment, inviting him inside to talk.
Julian agreed, then turned to Flora and Rachel. “Take care of her for me.”
“Yes, sir!” they replied in unison, nodding with mischievous grins. “Don’t worry, Mr. Tudor. We’ll return her to you without a single hair
out of place.”
Julian thanked them before leaving with Wallace.
Louisa’s face burned crimson at his words. If the stares from everyone around them were bullets, she’d have been riddled with holes by
now.
She needed some air, so she pulled Flora and Rachel toward the terrace.
Along the way, they passed some people–former mutual friends of hers and George’s–who politely greeted her. She returned their greetings with stiff smiles and kept walking.
Rachel patted her hand reassuringly. “You should thank Mr. Tudor. If not for him, the Capulet and Price families wouldn’t be treating your as an equal. The fact they’re even acknowledging you instead of pretending you don’t exist is actually quite polite.”
Louisa gave a small smile. “Yeah, I’m benefiting from his influence.”

Chapter 210
Without Julian, these people wouldn’t have bothered with polite greetings–ignoring her completely would have been the kindest treatment she could expect.
“Take all the advantage you want,” Flora said carelessly. “No need to be shy about it. Julian probably wishes you’d take even more liberties
with him.”
Rachel clinked glasses with her. “I second that.”
Louisa fell silent.
Meanwhile, in the ballroom, clusters of guests were engaged in animated conversations.
“Mr. Tudor seems genuinely interested this time. I’ve never seen him appear in public with any woman before.”
“So what? Even if he’s into her now, what about later?”
“Exactly. Remember how George was willing to defy his family to be with Louisa? All that unwavering devotion, and he still ended up
cheating.”
“Mr. Tudor’s probably just playing around with her. The novelty will wear off soon enough.”
“Yet look how smug Louisa acts, like she’s already secured the position of Mrs. Tudor.”
“Dream on! A divorced woman whose marriage ended in scandal? The Tudor family’s status and lineage would never allow her in.”
“True enough.”
The
group continued gossiping, occasionally throwing contemptuous, disgusted, and envious glances in Louisa’s direction.
Louisa noticed and heard some of it, responding with a cool, detached smile.
Flora, however, couldn’t contain her temper. She slammed her hand on the table. “What the hell are they saying? I’m going to set them
straight!”
“Yes, let’s give them a piece of our mind!” Rachel agreed.
The two stood up, ready to march over with righteous fury.
Louisa quickly grabbed them both. “Please don’t, my ladies. They can say whatever they want–it’s their mouths.”
Flora and Rachel fell silent, exchanging glances. Could Louisa possibly be any more unbothered by this? Reluctantly, they sat back down.

Soon after, voices drifted up from below.
“I heard that our Mr. Tudor has been completely bewitched by that slut Louisa. He’s supposedly been servicing her day and night
he’s physically drained.”
The voices carried clearly to the three women on the terrace above.
Louisa, who was taking a sip of water, nearly choked. She could tolerate strange looks, but she wouldn’t stand for such vulgar motors. She
stood up, determined to confront them.
Flora and Rachel each grabbed one of her arms. Flora gestured for her to calm down. “Don’t go. They can say whatever they want,
remember?
Louisa gave her a pointed look. Wasn’t Flora the one who wanted to confront people just moments ago?
Rachel, meanwhile, asked curiously, “Honey, be honest with us. Is Mr. Tudor really… physically drained?”
“Yeah, yeah, I’ve been wondering too!” Flora exclaimed, high–fiving Rachel excitedly.
Louisa wanted to smack them both. “How would I know?”
“Okay, okay, don’t get worked up.”
“Who knew Mr. Tudor was such a romantic?”
Louisa remained silent. She had gone there for work, so why did the entire world think she was sleeping with him?
Even her two best friends thought so. Apparently, she was far more capable than she realized. She was too annoyed to speak.
Flora laughed. “Mr. Tudor has helped you repeatedly, getting involved in your issues with the Capulet and Price families, fighting your battles, even injuring his arm. It’s hard not to make assumptions.”
Louisa gave up trying to defend herself.
Flora nudged her arm. “Why the long face? Being linked with Mr. Tudor–THE Mr. Tudor–isn’t exactly a bad deal, is it?”
Rachel nodded in agreement. “Exactly! Half the women in Silverlight City would kill to be in his bed. If rumors like this spread about them, they’d be hanging celebratory banners.”
Louisa gave her a cool look. “Including you?”
“No, no, no!” Rachel quickly waved her hands. “Don’t accuse me of that! No matter how desperate I might be, I’d never go after my best friend’s man. I’m the world’s best friend!”

She linked arms with Louisa and rested her head on her shoulder.
Flora saw this and pushed her away. “Get lost! I’m the world’s best friend, not you!”
Louisa found herself speechless.
Meanwhile, Julian followed Wallace toward a secluded room at the back.
Julian asked him, “Are you certain it’s that person?*
