Chapter 219
Madame Raven shook her head solemnly, her tone like an ancient prophecy, “The king desires, but the goddess is indifferent… troubling, most troubling.”
Her eyes suddenly flashed with cunning as she shifted direction, “However, Mr. Tudor, if you wish for efficient results and to win your beauty’s heart sooner, I have two talismans here–one for your left hand, one for your beloved’s right hand. They will help your relationship blossom naturally.”
She pulled two identical bracelets from her drawer, a mix of silver beads and black onyx–exactly like the
one she’d sold to Lily earlier.
Louisa remained silent. These talismans were probably wholesale purchases from Downtown Market. What
happened to the “last talisman“?
It seemed with Madame Raven, there was never truly a last one.
Julian smiled faintly, then unexpectedly asked, “If the goddess is indifferent, wouldn’t forcing her affection
only cause her pain?”
He directed this last question at Louisa.
Louisa mentally rolled her eyes, ‘Julian, what are you implying? If you want to ask something, just ask- why keep looking at me?‘
Madame Raven nodded slowly, “The seven emotions and six desires, unions and separations, unrequited love… such pain is inevitable. But, Mr. Tudor, if you accept my talismans, they will help reduce your
suffering.”
-Still aggressively selling.
“Thank you, then,” Julian smiled slightly. He turned to Louisa. “Go pay for it.”
Louisa glared at him. Why should she pay when he was the one doing the talking?
But he was her boss, and he had accompanied her all this way to find her friend. Fine.
She walked over, casually swiped five hundred dollars, and returned to Julian’s side. “Can we go now, Mr.
Tudor?”
“You forgot the talismans,” Julian reminded her.

Chapter 219
“Don’t want them,” Louisa said coldly, pushing him toward the exit.
Those bracelets felt like hot potatoes. If he really gave one to her, should she accept it or not?
She didn’t know why this question bothered her, but to be safe–better eliminate the possibility from the start by not letting him take them.
Julian didn’t insist, allowing her to push him out of the room.
Once outside, he suddenly asked, “Ms. Forbes, why did you refuse on my behalf?”
Louisa smiled tightly. “Would you like to go back for them?”
“Never mind,” Julian said softly. “I’m afraid…”
Afraid? Of what? Julian, afraid?
The group behind them was dying of curiosity. Noah even quickened his pace to hear more clearly.
Without looking back, Julian reached out and pressed his hand against Noah’s forehead, pushing him back.
The last half of his sentence was heard only by Louisa–because Julian whispered it directly into her ear.
Noah looked curiously at her, only to see Louisa’s cheeks turn bright red.
What on earth had Julian said to get such a reaction?
With Julian present, however, no one dared to ask.
Downstairs, the cool breeze helped the heat in Louisa’s face gradually subside.
Sadie, now changed back into her normal clothes, was leaning against the building entrance waiting for them. She had instantly transformed back into that cool, wise lawyer.
Flora rushed over to her, playfully scolding, “You coming to this creepy place–you freaked us out!”
“I had my reasons. Why did you all follow me?”
“Louisa was worried about you, so we all came along.”

“You guys are something else. Madame Raven was waiting for that fool Lily tonight and wasn’t taking other
clients. How did you even manage to get in?”
“That’s where our heroes come in,” Flora said excitedly. You should have seen Louisa and Julian working together–absolutely seamless! They’re like, separate they’re formidable, together they’re invincible. They’re
just-
“Enough, stop talking,” Louisa hurriedly covered Flora’s mouth.
She was already in deep water–she didn’t need her friends creating more ambiguity.
She pushed Flora toward Wallace. “Mr. Morgan, please take Flora and Rachel home.”
“Sure thing!” Wallace readily agreed. “How could I refuse an order from Julian’s girlfriend?”
Louisa nearly choked. She’d managed to silence two people, but couldn’t silence everyone.
As she instinctively began to protest, Julian approached and draped his coat over her shoulders.
She quickly tried to return it. “No need, I’m not—”
She was about to say she wasn’t cold when a sneeze escaped her.
“Keep it on,” Julian insisted, wrapping his coat around her body.
She wanted to thank him, but he had already walked past her, bringing a gust of cold air. His expression had cooled considerably too.
Though he looked much the same as before, he suddenly seemed less approachable.
Louisa frowned. Was he angry again?
Rachel and Flora flanked her sides, whispering, “You’ve upset him. Shouldn’t you go smooth things over?”
Louisa remained silent. What had she said to make Julian unhappy?
Julian had already gotten into the car.
Louisa turned to her friends, “I’ll take Sadie home. You should get going too.”
“Alright.”

Chapter 219
Everyone said their goodbyes. Flora and Rachel got into Wallace’s car. Noah took the driver’s seat.
Only Louisa and Sadie remained. Sadie, fearing she might be followed earlier, hadn’t driven.
Louisa led her toward Julian’s car, opening the back door to usher her in.

Sadie caught sight of Julian’s cold profile and startled. She quickly closed the door and said to Louisa, “You want me to sit with Mr. Tudor? What are you thinking? I’ll sit in front.”
She swiftly moved to the passenger seat and got in.
Louisa had no choice but to open the back door and sit next to Julian.
The atmosphere in the car was oppressive and cold during the journey back. With more than half an hour’s drive ahead, this coldness was unbearable.
Sadie turned around politely, “Mr. Tudor, thank you for coming with Louisa to help me today. It’s so late and you haven’t eaten–let me treat you both to a late supper.”
Noah in the front immediately responded, “Yes, great idea! What should we eat?”
“No,” came Julian’s cold reply.
Throughout the journey back, he didn’t speak to Louisa Louisa was completely bewildered.
When they reached the neighborhood, he left with Noah, telling Louisa and Sadie to go eat without them.
The car drove away in a cloud of dust.
Sadie leaned close to Louisa and stated the obvious, “Mr. Tudor is angry.”
Louisa sighed. Of course she could see that; she wasn’t blind.
