This time, Louisa didn’t try to deny it.
She smiled faintly and admitted, “You’re right, I can’t resist him. But giving in means letting myself follow my heart, and that would turn my world upside
down.”
Sadie shook her head. “Yes, Julian’s background is exceptional, and being with him won’t be easy. But you don’t have to worry about the outcome–hell
handle it.
‘Someone with Julian’s family connections will eventually marry someone from his social circle, Louisa said. ‘To him, I’m just a brief episode in his life. His
responsibilities are too heavy, and he has too many factors to consider.
‘He may not like Abigail, and his parents won’t force him, but if not her, there will be someone else. That doesn’t mean I’ll be accepted.”
‘You’re being too pessimistic, Sadie argued. ‘Haven’t you considered that he might overcome all obstacles to marry you?‘
Louisa smiled again. “Fine, let’s say that happens–even if he convinces his family and marries me. Marriage doesn’t mean his parents will accept me. And
it’s not just his parents. There will be external pressures too.
‘He’ll have to solve all these problems and complications, which is emotionally draining. During this process, he’ll get tired, I’ll get tired. Eventually, we’ll
both be exhausted.
“It’s like a dream–beautiful as a fairy tale, but dreams always end. I’m afraid of waking up. I’m afraid those beautiful things will shatter like illusions. revealing the worst underneath.”
Sadie sighed. “You’re afraid of everything. Aren’t you afraid that one day Julian will think you don’t like him, give up on you, and choose someone else?
Wouldn’t that hurt you?”
“It would hurt,” Louisa admitted with a bitter smile. “But this way is better. Everything stays at the beginning, at its best, and we each go our separate ways. The pain would be temporary, which is better than getting something only to lose it later, dragging a serious wound through life trying to heal yourself.”
Sadie couldn’t argue anymore. As a lawyer, I can never win an argument with you Why do you have to be so clear–headed? Something so beautiful and dreamy, and you have to dissect it like a corpse, examining every organ until it’s a bloody mess.”
But Sadie couldn’t push further.
What she didn’t know was that Louisa’s heart ached just saying these things. Louisa was even wondering if she should distance herself from Julian. She couldn’t let her fear of love affect him. He was too good, too pure and brilliant–he deserved a better woman. And she wouldn’t fall any deeper.
Perhaps it was time to find a way to leave him.
Just as she was thinking this, Sadie’s phone rang. It was Julian.
Since George had broken Louisa’s phone, the call had to come through Sadie.
Sadie didn’t answer immediately, instead offering the phone to Louisa. “Want to take it?”
Louisa instinctively refused. “He called you, you answer.”
Sadie answered and put it on speaker. “Julian, what’s up?
Julian replied politely, “Is Louisa there?”

She is.”
“Could you put her on, please?”
“Sure, just a second. Sadie gestured for Louisa to take over.
Louisa reluctantly asked, “What can I do for you, Mr. Tudor?”
Hearing her polite, distant tone, Julian frowned slightly. “Get ready. We’re leaving in ten minutes.”
“All right.”
Julian sighed. “Louisa, why are you so nervous?”
Louisa was silent. He could tell from her voice?

“I’m not nervous, she quickly said.
Julian softened his tone. “Let’s put aside what happened yesterday. First, we’ll meet Mark’s uncle and handle that situation.”
“Okay,” Louisa agreed, and hung up.
Louisa and Sadie quickly gathered their personal items and headed downstairs. They didn’t want to keep Julian waiting.
While waiting for him, Louisa realized what Julian had said: “Let’s put aside what happened yesterday. Did that mean he’d bring it up later? She hoped not. She didn’t want to face that again.
Just then, Julian emerged from the elevator with Teddy.
His meaningful gaze fell on Louisa’s face. Her heart raced, and she quickly looked away.
Julian passed by her. “Let’s go.”
Louisa hurriedly pulled Sadie along.
Noah had already brought the car to the hotel entrance. He and Jacob were waiting by the doors.
Noah opened the back door for Julian.
Louisa quickly headed for the passenger seat. She didn’t dare sit with Julian.
Unexpectedly, Sadie followed her and placed a hand on hers. “Louisa, you know et carsick. I need to sit in front.”
Louisa glared at her.
Sadie grinned and got into the passenger seat.
Jacob and Teddy were relegated to the very back row. Teddy didn’t mind, but Jace wasnt happy. He wanted to sit with Louisa, not with another man. But it wasn’t his car, so he had no say.
The only seat left was next to Julian.
Louisa had no choice but to sit beside him.

Chapter 280
Julian seemed to notice her discomfort and commented softly. “Sorry for the inconvenience, Ms. Forbes.”
‘It’s no inconvenience at all, Louisa quickly replied. “Don’t joke about it.”
Sitting next to Julian–how many women would kill for the chance? Not her, though. She genuinely feared being close to him,
Julian fell silent after that.
A chilly atmosphere pervaded the car. Teddy and Jacob sat in the back, barely daring to breathe. Even Sadie held her breath.
Only Noah seemed unaffected. When they reached a roundabout, he executed a perfect drift…
And the momentum sent Louisa tumbling right into Julian’s arms.
