Chapter 334
Louisa answered honestly, “My dad told me.”
Julian smiled. “Your dad must love you very much.”

Louisa said, “I remember when I was little, we were always moving. Living conditions were terrible–we often went without food. My
adoptive mother wanted my dad to give me away, but he absolutely refused. He insisted on keeping me no matter what. Eventually, my
adoptive mother stopped insisting.
My dad told me that my birth mother loved me very much, too. He said my mother was the most beautiful and bravest person in the
world. But unfortunately, I’ve never met my birth mother.”
Julian paused for a moment, then asked, “What else did your father tell you about your birth mother?”
Louisa shook her head. “Nothing. My dad rarely talked about my mother. Only every year at the end of autumn, he would take me to the seaside and have me observe three minutes of silence. I think that was his way of letting me pay respects to my mother.”
Julian nodded silently to himself.
That confirmed it.
Oliver and Melinda’s daughter had indeed been born in autumn.
Three days after their daughter’s birth, both husband and wife were murdered.
Oliver and his bodyguard died in a forest cabin, holding off the killers.
Oliver had told his wife to escape with their daughter.
Two miles from that forest was an ocean.
Melinda must have seen their situation was hopeless and entrusted the baby to Brian, then created a false impression that she had jumped into the sea with the child, allowing Brian to escape with her daughter.
That’s how Louisa must have survived.
As for Brian constantly moving with his family, it was probably because Gareth and Lorelei had only recovered Melinda’s body and suspected Louisa was still alive, so they kept pursuing Brian.
Fortunately, Brian never gave up on Louisa and persisted in raising her.
Brian had grown up by Oliver’s side like a brother–he had truly lived up to Oliver’s dying wish.

Chapter 334
When Louisa hadn’t heard Julian’s voice for a while, she looked up at him. “What are you thinking about?”
22
Julian looked down to meet her gaze, smiled, and gently touched her brow. “I’m wondering whether your parents would feel comforted or
heartbroken if they could see you now.”
“My parents?”
Louisa found this statement strange, though she couldn’t pinpoint why.
Julian didn’t give her time to think, asking another question. “Do you know about mayflies?”
“Yes.” Louisa nodded. “One of the shortest–lived creatures on earth–they only live for 24 hours.”
Julian said, “Yes, living at dawn and dying at dusk is their fate. You see, they endure countless days and nights, countless struggles and
transformations in darkness, all for just these 24 hours of life.
The moment they emerge from the water at dawn, billions of their kind tremble with them, forming a torrent of life rushing toward death.
Even with just this one day of dawn–to–dusk existence, they experience birth, aging, sickness, and death, leaving the most beautiful arc
between heaven and earth.
In the evening, they find their brides. At the moment their lives end, they mate and reproduce, embracing each other as they fall toward the water’s surface. Death becomes their most romantic dowry.
The mayflies lie on the lake’s surface, their lives extinguished.
And their brides swim upstream, using their last bit of strength to lay their children. The eggs flow back down the river to the dark depths of the mud.
There, their children begin to hibernate and grow, waiting for their moment of transformation and rebirth, waiting for their single day of
life…”
His voice was low and clear, unhurried in pace, like a clear stream flowing gently by her ear.
Louisa found herself entranced, as if she could see that magnificent scene before her eyes. ‘Life plants the seeds of its ending at the beginning, and at the ending, it lifts up new beginnings…”
For some reason, she felt an indescribable emotion.
Julian continued, “Just like your parents–they fought desperately to keep you alive, not just so you could experience all the world’s suffering, and not so you could live for others.
They hoped you could see this world, smell the flowers, do what you love, feel the sunlight on your skin, and truly love yourself.”

Chapter 334

Louisa said, “My dad told me the same thing.”
She’d always thought she treated herself pretty well. Why did both her dad and Julian keep telling her to love herself properly?
Julian looked down at her. “Really? Then it seems your dad and I think alike. Shouldn’t you arrange for us to meet face–to–face for a
proper discussion?”
Teddy, driving in front, suppressed his laughter, thinking, ‘Mr. Tudor, if you want to meet Louisa’s family, just say so directly instead of
going in such circles.‘
Louisa seemed to sense Julian’s intention, too.
She felt his burning gaze on her face.
Not daring to meet his eyes, she quickly changed the subject. “Oh, I forgot to report to Mr. Tudor–I met with Mr. Moss today and signed
the contract. Let me treat you to dinner.”
Julian fell silent.
He didn’t want to talk anymore.
This Louisa always changed the subject at crucial moments.
However, this conversation had opened up Louisa’s emotional knots, and she was no longer dwelling on today’s events.
She even felt she’d accomplished something tremendously important today, eating more than usual at dinner.
After dinner, Louisa remembered she’d forgotten to tell him about the modifications to the Moss Group project.
She needed to report to Julian about it.
So after dinner, as they walked home, Louisa told him about the specific details of the proposal.
During their walk, Julian took her hand, and she didn’t even notice,
Or rather, she was gradually getting used to such intimate gestures.
Unexpectedly, just as they returned to their residential complex hand in hand, they encountered George again,
Of course, Angelina was with George.
The two of them stood at the elevator entrance without going in, clearly waiting for someone.
Louisa’s good mood instantly vanished.
