Chapter 393
That cool, slightly deep voice carried an unquestionable authority.
Louisa and Teresa both turned toward the sound to see Julian.
Julian’s expression was indifferent, devoid of any emotion, his entire presence radiating an invisible sense of oppression.
Clearly, he didn’t appreciate people coming to his floor without his permission.
Teddy stood behind him, trying his best to maintain a peacekeeper’s smile attempting to salvage this scalp–tingling atmosphere… though he knew his efforts were utterly useless.
Teresa looked embarrassed, but at least she’d grown somewhat accustomed to this embarrassment over the past few days.
She quickly recovered and said to Julian, “I’m sorry, Julian. I didn’t know Ms. Forbes had to accompany you to entertain a client.”
Then she immediately turned to Louisa. “Ms. Forbes, you should have told me in advance. If I’d known you had to accompany the president to entertain clients at lunch, I wouldn’t have disturbed you.”
Louisa remained silent.
Which of you two gave me advance notice?
And what was she implying with those words?
Repeatedly saying “entertain clients“-was she suggesting Julian was mixing business with personal matters? Or that Louisa couldn’t distinguish
between the two?
No one present was an idiot. Everyone could hear the subtext in Teresa’s words.
Louisa said nothing.
Silence was the best response.
Julian gave Teresa a cold glance. “What, I need to report my work arrangements and Ms. Forbes’s personal schedule to you?”
The implication: What’s your position here?
Teresa’s face flushed with embarrassment. She couldn’t speak.
Julian didn’t waste another second on her.
When he turned to Louisa, his eyes unconsciously softened. “Come with me.”
Louisa nodded silently.
But seeing the intense resentment and sorrow emanating from Teresa, Louisa finally said, “Ms. Hughes, my apologies.”
Who told her to be a kind–hearted person who couldn’t stand watching others suffer from unrequited love?

She refused to accept it.
Snapping back to reality, she quickly chased after them.
The instant before the elevator doors closed, she dashed inside.
As if her earlier sorrow didn’t exist at all, she smiled shamelessly at Louisa Ms. Forbes, I’m taking the elevator down with you. You don’t mind,
do you?”
Louisa remained silent.
It wasn’t her elevator, was it? What right did she have to say no?
Teresa kept asking if she minded, as if deliberately trying to make her a target of resentment.
Louisa found it amusing and actually laughed. “I don’t mind. Feel free.”
“I mind.”
This came from Julian.
He and Louisa had spoken simultaneously.
Teresa froze again, looking at Julian with tears threatening to fall.
She’d deliberately asked Louisa with her own agenda–wanting to demonstrate in front of Louisa that she and Julian were equals, that they
shared the same status.
Louisa was merely a subordinate.
She wanted Louisa to understand her place.
But she hadn’t expected Louisa not to take the bait.
Instead, Julian, completely disregarding whether Teresa would be embarrassed, said, “This is my private elevator. If you want to go down, take different one.”

Too similar.
Hed only seen Louisa once before, at that dinner table when she wore a mask. He hadn’t thought much of it.
He’d even thought it was normal for people to bear some resemblance, that Gareth was being too sensitive,
Now, seeing Louisa’s full face, he realized they truly were alike.
He never seen anyone who resembled Melinda this much.
