Chapter 418
As soon as Xanthe finished speaking, everyone understood–so this
woman was just a tarot reader?
Louisa, Sadie, and Rachel simultaneously looked toward Sadie.
This was remarkably similar to Sadie’s own “mystical expert” act.
Sadie didn’t feel the least bit embarrassed, openly accepting their
knowing smiles. “That’s right–it’s all a con. Let’s just see whose
technique is more impressive.”
Up ahead, the tarot reader took measured, imperious steps, slowly
walking toward Adeline.
Adeline’s heart was already pounding with anxiety. Especially when
she saw the woman in the black mask approaching, she felt a surge of
terror, instinctively on the verge of crying out for help.
But unexpectedly, the tarot reader’s gaze landed on Hazel, standing
beside Adeline.
Hazel immediately waved her off. “I don’t do fortune–telling. Find
someone else.”

But the tarot reader paid no attention, standing before Hazel in that
domineering way, exuding an air of arrogance and superiority over
all.
The crowd began egging Hazel on, saying she shouldn’t be a
spoilsport. Besides, whoever the tarot reader chose was chosen–no
one could refuse. Those were the rules.
Since it wasn’t happening to them, everyone was perfectly happy to
sit back and watch the drama unfold.
Louisa was puzzled. Wasn’t tonight’s target that “important figure“?
Why had it shifted to Hazel?
The tarot reader stood before Hazel, not producing any tarot cards,
simply staring at her coldly, like a magnificent specter of death.
Seeing the terror in Hazel’s eyes, the tarot reader tilted her head
slightly and leaned toward Hazel’s ear, murmuring something in a
volume only the two of them could hear.
Hazel’s face drained of all color. As if her soul had been yanked from
her body, she crumpled to the floor.
This scene left everyone present stunned.

Could this tarot reader really be that extraordinary?
Adeline, who had already been frightened to begin with, watched
Hazel collapse to the floor and felt even worse. Her heart seemed to
nearly stop altogether.
Louisa stared at the tarot reader, momentarily transfixed.
Rachel and Flora were intensely curious, leaning close to whisper in
her ear, “What do you think this woman said to Hazel?”
Louisa said nothing.
Sadie studied Hazel carefully. Judging by Hazel’s expression, the tarot
reader must have truly struck a nerve–she’d spoken directly to some
secret Hazel kept buried in her heart.
And the deepest secret in Hazel’s heart… wasn’t that her lover?
Very few people knew this secret. Vivian was one.
But something didn’t add up. This tarot reader appeared to be of
some age–she couldn’t possibly be Vivian.
As Sadie was thinking this, she instinctively glanced at Louisa.

Louisa seemed to sense it and looked toward Sadie at the same
moment.
Their eyes met in the air.
In that instant, a name appeared simultaneously in both their minds.
Lorelei.
This tarot reader in the black mask was Lorelei.
The person who had abducted Vivian and extracted the Capulet
family’s secrets from her–that was Lorelei.
She’d shown up here to stir up trouble.

At this realization, both Louisa and Sadie felt a chill run down their
spines. Looking around again, every person in the room was wearing a
mask.
Sadie’s mind leaped to another bold speculation–could Vivian also be
hidden somewhere in this crowd, invisible and undetected?
She silently posed the question to Louisa.
Louisa understood her meaning and gave a subtle shake of her head.

Chapter 418
Probably not.
Vivian was someone who couldn’t keep herself in check. If she’d
spotted Louisa, she would likely have lunged at her long ago.
Meanwhile, Rachel and Flora were nearly losing their minds trying to
decipher the two of them communicating in silent gestures.
They each grabbed one of them by the wrist, asking anxiously, “Did
you two discover something?”
Before Louisa and Sadie could respond, the tarot reader’s icy voice cut
through from up ahead.
Louisa and her group all looked over at once.
The tarot reader stared down at Hazel. “Madam, was I correct?”
No one could see the tarot reader’s expression, but looking at her eyes
behind the mask, they felt that this tarot reader with the voice cold as
death… was smiling.
An unsettling smile–as if her target had become prey she could play
with at will.
Hazel opened her mouth, seemingly wanting to speak, but no sound

came out.
Two ladies nearby helped Hazel to her feet.
Xanthe consoled her, “Don’t worry. The tarot reader won’t reveal your
secret. You just need to tell everyone whether the reading was
accurate or not.”
Only then did Hazel come back to herself, nodding with a pale face.
“Accurate. Incredibly accurate…”
The crowd also snapped out of their shocked daze, clustering in twos
and threes, whispering to each other.
“Look at that lady’s expression–this tarot reader is the real deal.”
“I still don’t believe it. How could anyone see into another person’s
heart? Is it possible that lady is a plant Mrs. Boleyn hired?”
“I don’t think so. If Mrs. Boleyn already knew that lady’s secret, why
would that lady have come to this party in the first place?”
“So this tarot reader is genuinely that accurate?”
“I don’t believe in any of this mystical nonsense.”

“Then why don’t you go let the tarot reader read you?”
“I’m not going. You go if you want.”
“Honestly, we shouldn’t be so dismissive. After all, there are so many
things in this world that science can’t explain.”
“Anyone who doesn’t believe can just go try it themselves.”
The crowd’s goading grew louder, everyone seemingly waiting for
someone else to go first and verify.
Under normal circumstances, given Flora and Sadie’s personalities,
they’d have charged right up to play along and expose the tarot
reader’s tricks.
But now, Louisa had a firm grip on both their wrists, not letting them
move.
This Lorelei was not someone to be trifled with.
Flora, who still didn’t know the full story about Lorelei, said, “What?
You two actually think this woman is that terrifying?”
Sadie replied, “More terrifying than you can imagine.”

Chapter 418
She had zero impulse to go anywhere near her.
Lorelei was a lunatic who could kill police officers and break Vivian
out of prison–no different from a terrorist.
Who in their right mind would provoke someone like that?
Hearing the conversations around her, Xanthe chimed in, “Would
anyone like to come up and try?”
