After the Affair Falling into a Billionaire's Arms novel Chapter 448

Chapter 448

By the time they returned to the villa, it was already quite late.

There were still four more days scheduled at the branch office.

Louisa wasn’t assigned much work, but Julian was genuinely busyhe had to conduct onsite inspections of key projects, review operational reports, and deal with various evening engagements.

He didn’t have Louisa accompany him.

Teddy had it rough.

Ever since that night when Julian caught his little moment with Louisa, whether out of revenge or not, his already heavy workload increased even more. Every day he was exhausted beyond measure.

Occasionally, when his mind went blank for a moment, he’d think back to that party night. After missing out that evening, he’d never had

the energy or stamina again.

He was getting depressed.

In comparison, other employees from headquarters were much happier. After finishing their assigned work, they could relax, explore Gravenford’s surroundings, go shopping, and such.

Louisa could have joined them, but she didn’t.

She watched Julian work so hard and silently took care of many things he couldn’t handle himself.

Even without exchanging a word, they could coordinate seamlessly.

Saturday was their last day in Gravenford.

The branch office inspection was finally over.

Most employees from headquarters had already departed that afternoon.

Julian, Louisa, and their group of four stayed through the weekend.

Because Julian still had two items on today’s schedule.

In the morning, they were visiting a local aristocrat’s private horse ranch, and in the evening, there was a wine tasting at a vineyard they

needed to attend.

The plan was to return Monday morning.

But during breakfast on the weekend, Julian suddenly announced, Tomorrow morning, you three go ahead. I have some matters to attend

to and need to stay an extra day.

Louisa was drinking porridge when she heard this. She instinctively bit down on her spoon, thinking: Matters that require staying an extra

day? What matters?

All business was concluded.

Could it be personal matters?

Her heart felt heavy.

She wanted to ask but had no way to.

Even though privately they could be happy together, when it came to other matters, she didn’t seem to have the standing to ask,

Teddy was quite pleasedleaving a day early meant he might get a few more hours of rest.

Louisa remained in low spirits the whole time.

When they went horseback riding at the ranch, her enthusiasm was equally low.

At the stables.

Julian went to change into riding attire.

Though Louisa and Teddy were also invited to ride, neither had ridden before and feared being kicked to death by a horse, so they simply

declined.

Then, while waiting for Julian, Louisa asked Teddy beside her, Do you know what business he’s staying here for?

She couldn’t help itshe really wanted to know.

Teddy looked at her strangely. If he didn’t tell you, why would he tell me? Why do you always think I know everything?

Louisa muttered quietly, Because he loves taking you with him more.

Teddy didn’t catch it clearly, missing a word, and heard it as he loves you more.

Teddy asked in shock, Where did you get that idea?

Louisa said, Isn’t it obvious?

Chapter 448

There were other people at the table, so Julian couldn’t ask.

He picked up his phone and sent her a message: [What’s wrong?]

Louisa glanced at it once, then put her phone back on the table.

No reply.

Julian watched, his brow furrowing slightly.

He sent another message: [Should we step outside to talk?]

Louisa again looked at it before placing her phone on the table.

The epitome of left on read.

Julian’s furrowed brow deepened, his expression thoughtful, as if trying to decipher her psychology.

Louisa pressed her lips together. Finally, she picked up her phone and sent: [What are you staying behind to do tomorrow?]

Julian’s tightly furrowed brow relaxed, even showing a hint of amusement as he replied: [Distracted all morning thinking about this?]

Louisa felt deflated. Was he making fun of her?

She directly replied: [If you don’t want to say, fine, I don’t really want to know anyway.]

After sending it, she placed her phone on the table and turned to talk to Teddy.

Teddy was about to respond when he felt his boss’s murderous glare from across the table. He forcibly swallowed the words on the tip of his tongue and lowered his head, frantically stuffing food into his mouth.

They were having a spatwhy drag him into it? He didn’t want to be part of their couple’s games.

Julian gazed at Louisa for a moment, sighing helplessly inwardly.

Finally, he picked up his phone and replied: [It’s nothing important. If you want to know, I’ll tell you. It’s a lastminute business exchange meetingvery boring, but I can’t get out of it. If you’re willing to come with me, I’d be happy, of course. But you’ve been exhausted these past few days. I want you to rest properly at home.]

The explanation was watertight, completely adopting a thinking of her stance.

But Louisa wasn’t that naive. She could read between the linesevery word screamed don’t follow me.

Her hand gripping the phone suddenly tightened.
