Chapter 462
Julian was amused by her actions.
He reached up to rub her cheek. “Our Louisa is so brave.”
“When have I not been brave?”
What nonsense was this man spouting?
Louisa felt a surge of irritation inside.
Seeing this, Julian took the chair from her and set it down, soothing her gently. “That’s a good idea, but we’re here to solve problems, not create them. Acting too aggressively might backfire.”
Backfire?
www
Louisa frowned, contemplating his words.
But somehow, she couldn’t suppress her current irritability, and her thinking felt sluggish, as if rusted.
Suddenly, she saw something fall from high up outside the window.
A muffled thud.
Connecting it to what had just fallen…
That wasn’t a thing.
That was a person.
Louisa’s face instantly turned deathly pale, her eyes filled with terror, her legs nearly buckling.
Fortunately, Julian was quick–he caught her around the waist, preventing her from
falling.
“Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid. It’s okay. I’ll go check.”
He steadied her, trying to help her sit on the sofa.
She gripped his arm tightly, refusing to let go.
So Julian didn’t let go either, gently stroking her back. “Alright, with me here, it’s fine. We’ll go look together.”
He held her as they went to the window together.
The window definitely wouldn’t open.
They could only look outside through the glass.
In the pitch–black night with only a few hazy beams of light, they couldn’t see clearly–only vaguely making out a pale yellow dress hem.

Chapter 462
Louisa suddenly remembered that Yvaine had worn a pale yellow dress.
Just now,
it was Yvaine who had knocked on their door..
How did she suddenly fall from upstairs?
Was she pushed? Or did she jump herself?
Louisa couldn’t figure it out. Her face was white as paper.
Julian pressed her face into his embrace, soothing her softly. “Don’t look anymore. It’s fine.”
He freed one hand to draw the curtain and brought her back to sit on the sofa.
Louisa wanted to look outside but didn’t dare. Her heartbeat accelerated violently as she asked Julian, “Is she dead?”
Julian shook his head.
His eyes held a cold indifference, showing no guilt for not opening the door earlier–only thoughtful contemplation, as if pondering something.
Just then, knocking sounded at the door again.
Accompanied by a servant’s respectful voice. “Mr. Tudor, Ms. Forbes, please gather in the second–floor hall in ten minutes.”
A question flashed through Louisa’s mind: This castle had quite a few servants–when a guest just fell from the building, did no one notice?
Julian replied, “Alright, we understand.”
He calmed Louisa’s emotions.
When the time was about right, they went out.
Teddy and Noah from the adjacent room also emerged.
Both their complexions looked poor.
Still immersed in the earlier horror, Louisa didn’t look closely. She only noticed that aside from their poor color, nothing else seemed strange so probably nothing had happened.
Orion and Briar from the opposite room also came out.
Briar glared fiercely at Orion, occasionally pinching his arm hard.
Orion didn’t speak or resist, his eyes carrying dishevelment, looking extremely pitiful.
Guests from other rooms gradually emerged as well.
Some were flushed and radiant, others looked gloomy.
When the men’s eyes fell on the women, they carried undisguised lust.

Chapter 462
As for the women–either their emotions were out of control, or their gazes were vacant.
From the looks of it, they’d all been affected.
After reaching the second–floor hall, some recovered and gathered in small groups whispering.
“Did you hear anything just now?”
“Don’t know. I was busy at the time, didn’t notice.”
“I heard a muffled thud, like something falling.”
“But that doesn’t make sense. If an object fell from the building, it should be a loud crash, not a muffled sound. Unless…”
“It was a person.”
“Only a body hitting the ground makes a muffled sound.”
“Exactly. I saw it–it was a person.”
“Yes, I also… I also…”
Their speech became incoherent.
Everyone’s expressions began showing fear.
Julian’s group listened to their discussion from the side, watching them panic without joining in.
Louisa just felt a headache and rubbed her temples.
Suddenly, with an inadvertent glance, she was completely shocked,.
At her eleven o’clock position, Yvaine stood there perfectly fine.
Meeting Louisa’s shocked gaze, Yvaine even wore a gentle, refined smile and nodded slightly at Louisa.
Louisa was completely stunned.
The woman who’d knocked on their door earlier and fallen from high up… how could she be standing here perfectly fine?
Wasn’t she dead?
