After the Affair Falling into a Billionaire's Arms novel Chapter 508

Chapter 508

What Louisa didn’t know was that that very moment, Julian’s car was parked on an empty lot outside the airport perimeter.

He watched the plane she was on take off, watched it disappear into the vast sky

He kept watching.

Beside him, Noah muttered quietly, I really don’t understand why you’re letting Ms. Forbes leave. Now that she’s gone, are you happy?

After a long silence, Julian finally looked away, his expression detached. Because sometimes you have to face death before you can be reborn.

Louisa was willing to stay with him without any name or status. He wasn’t willing to accept that.

Noah didn’t understand what that meant. He couldn’t figure it out no matter how hard he tried. Seeing Julian’s foul mood, he didn’t dare ask.

He silently committed the phrase to memory, planning to ask Teddy about it later.

The northwest region was located at the country’s far northwestern border, nearly ten hours by flight from Silverlight City.

By the time Louisa arrived at the northwest airport, it was already three in the morning the next day.

The northwest branch office was at the foot of a mountain range, still four hoursdrive from the airport.

Louisa didn’t plan to rest. She intended to take the airport shuttle directly to the branch so she could arrive before eight in the morning.

Surprise inspections revealed the truest picture of any situation.

But this was an unfamiliar place, near the border. Public safety here wasn’t comparable to Silverlight City.

After getting off the plane, the entire route to the bus terminal was dimly lit with very few pedestrians.

Louisa had always been afraid of the dark. Combined with the unfamiliar environment and the occasional gusts of night wind, it was impossible

for her not to feel at least some fear.

Especially on the stretch between the parking lot and the bus terminalone section was completely pitch black. She didn’t know if the lights were broken or what.

Louisa felt her legs go weak. She didn’t dare walk through it.

She was thinking maybe she should just take a taxi instead. Paying extra didn’t matterit wasn’t like she was short on cash.

Just as she was considering it, a woman approached her. “Excuse me, are you Ms. Forbes from the Tudor Group in Silverlight City?

Louisa looked over. The woman appeared to be in her thirties, dressed in a black suitthe very picture of a professional career woman.

Louisa asked cautiously, And you are?

Chapter 508-

The women pulled out her employee ID badge. My name is Elara West. I’m an employee of the Tudor Groups northwest branch. Mr. Young arranged for me to pick you up and take you to the branch office.

Louisa’s wariness eased slightly.

Just then, her phone buzzed.

A message from Teddy: [Elara is one of ours. You can trust her.]

Now Louisa had no doubts. A warmth even spread through her chest.

She didn’t need to question itany instruction Teddy gave came directly from Julian.

She hadn’t expected him to remember that she was afraid of the dark, or to worry about her safety traveling alone, and arrange for someone to

pick her up.

A feeling she couldn’t quite name washed over herpainful, bittersweet, yet warm.

Elara took her suitcase and gestured respectfully. Ms. Forbes, this way, please.

Louisa said, Thank you.

She followed Elara to the car.

The driver sat up front while Elara and Louisa took the back seat.

This was a mountainous region, after allnothing like a bustling metropolis. There were no neonlit streets or heavy traffic. Street lamps were spaced so far apart that their light was faint. Outside, everything was pitch black.

At first, the car was very quiet.

Louisa didn’t speak, so Elara didn’t either.

Louisa felt a bit thirsty. She pulled a bottle of water from her bag, opened the cap, and was about to drink.

Elara retrieved a bottle from the car’s thermal cooler and held it out to her. Ms. Forbes, don’t drink cold water. Have something warm instead.

Thank you.

Louisa accepted it. She held the bottle in her handsthe temperature was neither cold nor hot, but just right.

Just like a certain someone’s feelingsperfectly calibrated.

Louisa suddenly felt her nose sting with emotion.

Hadn’t lulian wanted to break up? Then why was he still preparing everything for her so thoughtfully, down to the smallest detail?

Had he figured out that she could withstand coldness and cruelty, but couldn’t handle kindness?

She’d never cared about others indifference or heartlessness. But when people were good to her, she couldn’t bear it.

Ms. Forbes, are you all right? Seeing her silent and not drinking, Elara asked with concern.

Louisa shook her head. I’m fine. Did Mr. Young tell you anything else?

Elara said, Not much. He just mentioned your daily habits and said I should fully support you with any workrelated matters. Also, my picking you up at the airport todaythe office doesn’t know about it. They only know that headquarters is sending someone for an inspection, but they don’t know the exact timing. So whether you want to conduct a surprise inspection or do anything else, you can proceed according to your own plan.

Louis: fell silent.

Julian really had thought of everythingeven her intentions.

She smiled at Elara. Thank you for your trouble.

Elara smiled back. No need to be so polite, Ms. Forbes. But the mountains aren’t like the city. The environment here is harsh. Please be

mentally prepared.

Louisa replied, That’s fine.

What hardship hadn’t she endured? Was she afraid of a little difficulty?

When she’d requested this assignment, she’d already known what the conditions would be like.

The northwest branch was an early strategic community welfare and pilot industry project under the Tudor Group. Its original purpose had been to build the company’s public welfare reputation while developing local specialty resources and achieving lightasset profitability.

However, the project had been severely disconnected from local realities from the start, and the plan couldn’t proceed normally.

Several project managers had been sent over the years. In their eagerness for quick results, they’d destroyed forests, damaged mountain ecosystems, overused pesticides and fertilizers, and polluted water sources and soil.

The managers who’d hoped to quickly revitalize the area’s resources had all ended up making things worse. In the end, they’d slunk back home
