Chapter 544
Julian watched the strange interaction between them and frowned.
When Noah had called him earlier today, he’d only said George was trying to abduct Louisa at the complex. He Hader? Noah himself didn’t know what was going on.
This afternoon, Louisa had been stalling for time nonstop. He’d guessed she was avoiding George, but he didn’t kear what had between them.
George had been quiet lately. Why was he suddenly back with a vengeance?
What had triggered this?
George looked at Julian, then at Louisa, and sneered. “I get it.”
She clearly didn’t want him to spell things out.
So she didn’t want Julian to know about the baby either, huh?
She probably wasn’t planning to keep it, was she?
At least she had some sense.
Julian grew even more suspicious. What did he get?
What kind of riddle were these two speaking in?
He looked at Louisa.
Louisa immediately shook her head. How was she supposed to know what George “got”?
George sneered again, though his tone relaxed considerably. “Louisa, you don’t need to avoid me. I’m not here for anything else just a problem with a company project. You were the one leading it before, so I came to ask for your advice.
Hearing this, Louisa felt equally baffled. She had no idea why this man had suddenly changed his attitude.
Too lazy to speculate, she went along with his words. “I already resigned from the Capulet Group. I handed everything over before Whatever happens now has nothing to do with me. Have your newly appointed project manager handle it.”
George said, “But they only recognize you.”
Louisa said, “So what? That’s your problem, not mine.”

Julian smiled. “Me,”
George fell silent
The elevator began ascending:
George lived on the tenth floor
They’d already passed the fifth floor. Julian reminded him, “Mr. Capulet, aren’t you going to press your floor? Or do you want to come home with me too?”
That “too” was particularly pointed.
George’s internal injuries worsened from anger.
But he’d already accepted the fact that his wife had left him. He wasn’t as emotionally out of control as before.
With a dark expression, he entered his fingerprint. He didn’t do anything rash or say anything else.
Louisa secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
When the elevator reached the seventh floor, Julian suddenly seemed to remember something. “Oh, by the way, Mr. Capulet has Mrs.
Getty been asking you to look after her daughter lately?”
Gegera fare atiffened. He said coldly, “No. I haven’t seen them recently.”
“Oh, I see Julian nodded and didn’t say anything more.

Chapter 544
The elevator reached the tenth floor.
George stepped out.
Probably unwilling to let it go, just as the elevator doors were about to close, he suddenly turned back and stuck his foot on the safety plate.
His eyes looked dark and gloomy as he stared at Louisa. “Think carefully about what I said. I’ll be staying here for a while. When you’ve made up your mind, come find me.”
Louisa answered crisply, “Fine.”
In front of Julian, she didn’t want to argue with George. Getting him to leave was the priority.
As for everything else-whatever.
But George didn’t leave immediately. He looked deeply at Louisa. “Louisa, no matter what, I would never hurt you. Between us, the good outweighed the bad, didn’t it?”
He wanted to say that out of ten years, only the last year had gone rotten.
Louisa laughed. “Good or bad-none of it matters anymore. It’s all in the past.”
As for whether the good outweighed the bad?
If she really dwelled on that question, it would only force her to retreat, trap herself, and stay submerged in a pit of suffering.
People couldn’t stand still forever, much less move backward-using past happiness to heal a present that had already rotted through.
At least, she wouldn’t.
She was moving forward.
In the end, George said nothing more. He slowly withdrew his foot.
The elevator doors closed gradually.
Just like she’d closed that door on her life and continued moving upward.
Louisa turned to glance at Julian beside her.
Suddenly, she shivered.
Moving upward… She’d somehow moved up, but it was lonely at the top.
