Louisa went quiet.
Why was this man so sensitive?
Annoyed, she lifted her leg and knocked her knee against his, shooting him a warning look.
Julian only found her anger adorable. His arm tightened around her waist as he kissed her lips. “If you don t hurry. leaving the house this morning.”
Before he’d even finished speaking, Louisa felt something hard pressing against her lower abdomen.
She glanced down.
Julian’s hand clenched at her waist.
That one glance nearly made him lose control and lock the door right then and there.
This celibate life was torture…
Twenty minutes later.
Louisa and Julian walked out of the bedroom one after the other.
Julian looked perfectly composed, as if nothing had happened, settling into his seat at the dining table with ease.
Louisa sat beside him, clearly feeling Teddy and Noah’s eyes on her.
She turned to look at them, and they immediately dropped their heads to play with Satan.
Bob emerged from the kitchen carrying a soup tureen, smiling warmly “Louisa, 1 made Thr

Teddy and Noah exchanged glances: That nourishing? How depleted is Ms. Forbes?
Louisa’s internal monologue was in crisis mode: Bob, you really didn’t have to go to all this “special” trouble.
Julian remained perfectly calm, personally ladling a small bowl for her. “You worked hard earlier. Eat up.”
Under the table, Louisa kicked him directly.
Wasn’t he drawing enough attention already?
After breakfast.
Julian left for work, taking Teddy with him.
Noah’s main job was protecting Louisa, so he stayed home with her.
He alternated between playing with Satan, helping Bob taste–test new dishes, and sitting on the couch gaming. His schedule was perfectly
organized.
Louisa felt bored.
The new company was still under renovation, with Flora keeping an eye on things for her.
Recruitment was happening simultaneously, handled by professional HR that Julian had sent over from the Tudor Group. She had nothing
to do.
She’d spent some time reading in Julian’s study, but grew increasingly restless.
After all, she was used to high–intensity work. This sudden idleness didn’t suit her.
She really wanted to work.
Maybe she should invite her friends for afternoon tea?
Little did she know, Flora and Rachel were already having afternoon tea together.
Sadie had gone out of town gathering evidence for a case.
Rachel was home and hadn’t gone out, so Flora had called her over to help.
Flora had ordered coffee and afternoon tea. She and Rachel sat in the office eating and drinking while admiring the view outside.
Rachel seemed a bit lazy. “I heard again–recently another person went to the Tudor family trying to claim credit as the ‘lifesaver, and Mrs. Tudor exposed them on the spot.”

Flora’s fingers paused on the keyboard. “Thank goodness Mrs. Tudor had some impression of our Louisa from back then, or someone else really would’ve stolen the credit.”
Rachel smiled. “Then let’s give it a push.”
Flora said, “But our Louisa doesn’t care about being that ‘benefactor. Don’t go causing trouble.”
Rachel replied, “What do you mean ‘causing trouble‘? We won’t make Louisa come forward. We’ll just help make it happen behind the
scenes.”
Flora asked, “You have a plan?”
Rachel said, “I understand Louisa’s thinking. She hates those high–society mothers–in–law with their class prejudices. But avoiding some things doesn’t solve them–you have to address them eventually. From what I know, Mrs. Tudor isn’t someone with severe class biases. If she’s open–minded and learns that our Louisa saved her, it could change how she views Louisa. That would make things easier between Louisa and Mr. Tudor. But if it turns out she’s another Hazel who doesn’t know what’s good for her, we can help our friend cut her losses early, right? Besides, Louisa’s looking at this from the inside. Past hurts make her prioritize her own feelings–that’s being blinded by involvement. We’re on the outside. It’s easier for us to break through that barrier.”
Rachel laid out her analysis.
Flora listened carefully, slowly nodding. “You have a point. In my impression, Mrs. Tudor really is a good person. She’s always been kind to us younger people, never putting on airs because of her family’s higher status. But Louisa is extremely pessimistic. She always imagines the worst–case scenario. When it comes to her and Julian, she’s very avoidant. If we force her out into the open, won’t that startle her and
backfire?”
Rachel smiled. “You worry too much. Louisa’s personality is soft with kindness but hard against aggression–the stronger the opposition, the stronger she becomes. Give her a little love, and she can be incredibly gentle. But if someone bullies her, she instantly transforms into a porcupine and stabs them to death.”
Flora was convinced. “So what should we do?”
Rachel stood up and patted her shoulder. “Leave it to me. I’ll arrange this scene beautifully.”
Rachel was a woman of action. She immediately had someone leak information to Adeline.
Once everything was arranged, she called Louisa, saying she was inviting her to dinner.
Louisa didn’t suspect a thing and agreed immediately.
