After the Affair Falling into a Billionaire's Arms novel Chapter 9

**Clocks Lie To Hearts by Asa River Flint**

George couldn’t shake the feeling that something was amiss. Yet, as he looked into Louisa’s bright, beaming smile, he found himself unable to articulate the source of his unease.

At least she seemed to have moved past whatever had been bothering her.

“Where are you off to?” he asked, trying to sound casual, though curiosity tinged his voice.

“I’ve made plans to hit the shops with Sadie and Flora. I’m heading out now,” she replied, her tone light and airy.

“Go for it. Spend as much as you like—don’t hold back on saving money,” he encouraged, waving her off with a dismissive gesture.

Louisa stifled a laugh, amused by the thought. Of course, she wouldn’t be pinching pennies—after all, she brought in millions for him each year. Why should she scrimp when other women were ready to splurge?

With that thought in mind, she stepped outside, slid into her car, and set off to meet her two friends, excitement bubbling beneath the surface.

While the day was ostensibly about shopping, Louisa had a far more pressing agenda: she was interviewing for a new job.

Upon arriving at the café they had chosen, she spotted Sadie and Flora Young already seated. They were engrossed in their phones, drinks in front of them, engaged in animated conversation while occasionally glancing at their screens.

Louisa took the empty seat that lay between them, feeling a sense of camaraderie wash over her.

Sadie, noticing her arrival, slid one of the coffee cups toward Louisa. “Latte, no sugar, just how you like it.”

“You know me too well,” Louisa said with a smile, popping off the lid and savoring the first sip.

As she took in the scene, she noticed her friends still glued to their devices. Curiosity piqued, she asked, “What are you two so engrossed in? Any juicy news today?”

Flora, ever eager to share, held her phone up for Louisa to see. “You won’t believe this—David Foster, the brother-in-law of the Taylor Group’s CEO, is being sued by Dreamscape Club.”

Louisa felt a jolt of shock. David was facing a lawsuit?

Could it possibly be connected to last night’s unsettling events?

Without a second thought, she reached for Flora’s phone, her heart racing. The headline blared: #Taylor Group CEO’s Brother-in-Law David Foster Sued by Dreamscape Club for Attempted Rape.

The article was scant on details, offering no description of the incident and conveniently omitting Louisa’s name—just the editor’s wild speculations and conjectures.

Flora and Sadie, blissfully unaware of Louisa’s pivotal role in the unfolding drama, continued their discussion with casual disdain.

“That absolute scumbag,” Flora spat, her voice laced with anger. “I’ve heard he’s pressured female clients for sexual favors time and again. It’s about time someone brought him down.”

Sadie nodded in agreement. “Scumbags like him are the worst, but let’s be objective here. When incidents like this happen in a club, they usually sweep it under the rug to protect their reputation. Why would they choose to sue a client instead?”

Flora retorted, “That might be the case for ordinary clubs. But Dreamscape Club is a high-end venue under the Tudor Group. The Tudor family is part of Silverlight City’s elite and upholds strong humanitarian values. They wouldn’t stoop to the shady dealings of run-of-the-mill establishments.”

Sadie raised an eyebrow. “If that’s true, shouldn’t the Tudor Group disclose all the facts? Why be vague and invite scrutiny?”

Flora shrugged, her expression thoughtful. “Who knows what’s going on behind the scenes?”

Louisa, listening intently, suddenly recalled that Dreamscape Club was indeed part of the Tudor Group.

While she couldn’t quite picture the man’s face, she remembered the way he had approached her—exuding an air of power and nobility that was hard to forget.

Could he possibly hold a significant position within the Tudor Group?

Just as she was about to probe Flora for more information, Flora’s gaze flickered toward Louisa.

Flora scrutinized Louisa’s outfit with a mix of frustration and disbelief. “Didn’t I tell you to wear something cute and casual? What on earth are you wearing?”

Louisa defended herself, a hint of indignation in her voice. “This is literally my most casual outfit! I’m going for an interview. Isn’t this suitable?”

After making their purchases, the trio exited the clothing store.

Sadie headed back to her law firm, while Flora and Louisa set off for Golden Tee Golf Club.

Louisa kept glancing down at her outfit, anxiety creeping in. “Are you sure this is appropriate?”

The more she scrutinized her appearance, the more her confidence waned.

Flora, stealing glances at Louisa’s long, alluring legs as she drove, chuckled. “With legs like those, I’m practically green with envy. Men would kill to be with you. Just own it, will you?”

Louisa laughed helplessly, shaking her head. “I’m going for an interview, not to charm anyone.”

Flora smirked. “Julian Tudor, the third son of the illustrious Tudor family, head of the Tudor Group—he’s practically a legend. What would be wrong with weaving a little romance into the mix?”

“Stop right there!” Louisa interjected, her tone firm. “I’m focused solely on my career right now. Men are absolutely off the table.”

Besides, didn’t every romance start with a sweet allure?

After her experience with George, Louisa felt she had seen through the illusions of love.

As they chatted, they pulled into the club’s parking lot.

Flora parked the car and linked arms with Louisa as they strolled toward the entrance.

The two stunning women—one exuding cool elegance, the other radiating warmth and charm—immediately drew the attention of many onlookers.

They made their way toward the designated meeting spot.

As they reached the heart of the golf course, they spotted a tall figure standing in the sunlight, a commanding presence that drew their eyes.
