After the Cold Marriage His Crazy Love (Iris and Julian) novel Chapter 133

Chapter 133 Unspoken Feelings

“Hi.” Iris stayed calm, no hint of fluster.

Luke looked at Julian with guilt, resting a hand on his shoulder and leaning in to whisper an apology. “Dude, I’m so sorry. I had no clue she was your wife last time. I said all kinds of stuff I shouldn’t have around her.”

Julian’s face clouded over, his brows knitting together as he stared at him.

Luke felt even worse. “I told her everything. About how you had a crush on someone from high school all the way through college.”

Julian grabbed his arm tight, his grip growing firmer by the second. His eyes flickered. Does Iris know I’ve had a crush on her for twelve years?

Luke looked totally awkward, forcing a weak smile as he pulled his hand free. “I’ll make it up to you next time, I promise. I’ll go check on Jenny. See if she picked out the wedding stuff she wants.”

Luke ran off as fast as he could.

Iris put on a calm, easy smile for Julian, acting like she didn’t care.

But Julian felt really awkward. He avoided her gaze, his ears turning red on both sides. He turned around, nervous and fidgety.

He gripped the wooden railing with both hands, hung his head and took a slow breath. He looked so tense and reserved, like he was hiding something.

It was the first time Iris had seen Julian act like this. She walked over to stand beside him, quietly watching the carp in the stream.

Thinking about his first love made her feel a little envious and sad.

The warm morning sun shone down on them. A light breeze blew, carrying the smell of flowers and making the air feel fresh.

The silence hung for a minute. Then Julian’s gentle voice, soft like a spring breeze, whispered “You know, don’t you?”

Iris nodded. “Yeah.”

Julian turned to her, his warm, deep eyes holding a little hope. “How do you feel about it?”

Iris’s heart felt heavy. Why is he asking me that?

Everyone had a past. Besides, that was his first love. It was all over.

She couldn’t tell him the truth that she envied that girl, that she felt a little hurt.

Iris forced a calm smile, lying, “It doesn’t bother me.”

Fanshed

Julian’s eyes filled with disappointment. He looked away from her, staring into the distance. His hands tightened around the railing as he let out a deep sigh.

A heavy, cold mood settled around him.

He looked hurt. Really hurt.

Suddenly, Iris’s phone buzzed twice.

She hung her head, pulled it out and unlocked it.

It was a voice message from Zoe.

She pressed play and held the phone to her ear.

Zoe said, “Iris, two more women came to the research institute to cause trouble today. They look like Emily’s fans. And I got good news. Emily’s account got banned. It’s such a relief.”

At the same time, Julian whispered bitterly, “Yeah, I get it. So many people like you. One more or one less doesn’t matter. Someone like me, insignificant and unimportant, why would you care that I like you?”

Iris finished listening to the voice message and turned to Julian, confused. “What did you say?”

Julian looked at her, his gaze falling on her WhatsApp chat. “Nothing. Go take care of your stuff.”

Iris hung her head and typed a reply, “If anyone causes trouble at the lab again, call the police right away.*

Zoe sent two more voice messages.

“I have another message. No idea if it’s good or bad.

“Our facility is getting a new owner. I just talked to the property manager. He said a company bought the place for 250 million dollars. They’re working on transferring the ownership now.”

After listening, Iris typed carefully, “Our place isn’t too big or too small. It’s no good for a factory, too remote for a mall, and the traffic’s bad for an office building. Who’s the fool that bought it?”

“No idea. I’ll ask the property manager later.”

“Okay.” Iris sent the message, put her phone back in her pocket and glanced at Julian.

His handsome side profile looked a little down. His jawline was sharp and firm, chiseled and attractive

The sun shone on him, making him look bright and striking.

Julian noticed her looking out of the corner of his eye and turned to face her.

Iris’s heart skipped a beat. She quickly looked down, shyly avoiding his gaze. “Should we go inside?”

“Yeah.” Julian nodded and turned to head into the house.

Iris hurried to keep up.

When they got to the door, Lily ran out, grinning wide. “Julian, is it true you’re gonna be Luke’s groomsman?”

Julian stopped and nodded faintly. “Yeah.”

“Jenny asked me to be her bridesmaid.”

Julian nodded again, no showing much reaction.
