Yvette didn’t dare open her eyes to look at him. Every pulse in her body raced wildly, and her heartbeat refused to calm down.

Brandon’s voice was deep and husky, thick with desire. “Are you busy this morning?”

“No, why?” she whispered quietly.

Brandon tightened his grip around her waist and buried his face in the crook of her neck.

Brandon let out a low chuckle. He kissed her earlobe and gently brushed his lips against her skin.

“We’re not going anywhere. Just stay home… in bed.”

Yvette shyly tried to pull away. Her ears turned bright red, and she nodded timidly.

Brandon lifted her up in his arms and walked toward the big bed.

He knelt on one knee on the mattress and carefully laid her down.

He hovered over her, staring down into her clear, shy eyes that pulled him in effortlessly.

Her long hair spread across the sheets. She looked innocent yet seductive, cute and gorgeous all at once.

He felt a strange conflict inside him–an urge to tease her, yet a strong hesitation to hurt her.

His slender fingers brushed her bangs, then slowly traced the curve of her cheek.

His thumb stroked her soft, tender lips gently.

His breath grew hotter. His Adam’s apple bobbed up and down.

“Yvette,” he murmured in a deep, magnetic tone.

“Mm?” she replied softly.

A hint of jealousy seeped into his voice out of nowhere.

“When we’re together, don’t close your eyes even if you’re shy. Keep looking at me. Only think about me. Okay?”

Yvette’s eyes instantly watered, and she nodded.

Right at that moment, a ringtone blared loudly.

Her phone vibrated on the nightstand, its harsh tone ruining the intimate mood.

“Take it. We have plenty of time later.”

Yvette tugged at her half–unbuttoned shirt, sat up, and took the phone.

As she listened to the call, her expression turned worse and worse.

Brandon noticed her sudden change in mood.

After she said a few words and hung up, he sat down beside her and leaned closer.

“What happened?”

Yvette stared at him anxiously. “Our unreleased new collection got plagiarized by a competing brand. They dropped it earlier than us.”

Brandon’s eyes darkened. Without a word, he buttoned up her shirt neatly.

Yvette glanced down at her fixed shirt, then looked back at him.

“Didn’t you want me to stay with you?”

“We have all the time in the world.” His tone was gentle yet firm.

“Work comes first. I’ll go to the company with you. I might be able to help.”

Yvette stared at him, her heart swelling with gratitude.

He was just like a sturdy umbrella shielding her from storms.

No matter how bad the situation was, he would always stand in front of her to protect her.
