Chapter 446 All Night Call
:
“Keep spamming me, and I’ll expose your messy dating history with all your exes.”
Judith texted back, “How dare you?”
Yvette replied, “Don’t push me. I’m capable of anything.”
Judith never sent another message.
Yvette closed her eyes and lay face down on the bed, her heart heavy and gloomy.
All of a sudden, her phone rang.

She opened her eyes, picked up the phone, and saw an incoming video call from Brandon.
She hesitated for a second, rolled onto her side on the pillow, and answered.
The second the call connected, Brandon came into view. He was sitting on a hotel sofa, with exotic decorations in the background.
He looked exhausted, yet his soft, doting smile never faded. His eyes were deep and burning.
“You heading to sleep?” he asked quietly.
Yvette forced a small smile. “Yeah, I was about to.”
Brandon pressed his lips together and his Adam’s apple bobbed. He stared at the beautiful girl on his screen.
Her hair spilled across the bed like a waterfall. The thin blanket contrasted against her fair skin, making her look soft, delicate and incredibly tempting even through the screen.
“Stay up a little longer for me, okay?” He spoke in a coaxing tone.
Yvette nodded.
“Why have you been ignoring me these days?” There was helplessness in his deep gaze.
“I wasn’t ignoring you.” Yvette felt guilty.
“You stopped picking up my videos. All you sent was short texts saying you were tired or busy.” Brandon smiled softly and indulgently.

“You’re clearly distancing yourself from me. Did I say something wrong to upset you?”
“No, you didn’t.”

His voice sounded warm and soothing. “Then tell me what’s wrong. I need to know my mistake so I can fix it.”
Tears pricked Yvette’s eyes.
Brandon was so sweet and thoughtful. She had no reason to be upset with him.
She couldn’t exactly tell him she was jealous, wronged, and mad at him for no reason.
Back when they first met for their blind date, Brandon had been upfront with her. He’d told her plainly that he had someone he loved and would never marry her willingly.
She was the one who begged him for this marriage.
She had no right to feel jealous or hurt.
“I… started my period. I’ve just been in a bad mood lately.” She made up an excuse to brush it off.
Brandon let out a quiet breath of relief. He leaned against the sofa with one hand propping up his head, gazing at her tenderly on the screen.
“Your immune system drops during this time. Rest early, stay covered, and don’t turn the air conditioner too low.”
“Okay.”
“Don’t hang up on me, alright? Just prop your phone next to you,” he murmured.
Yvette stayed silent.
The next morning, her alarm went off.
Yvette rolled over lazily on her pillow, struggling to open her eyes.
“Good morning, Yvette.”
The familiar voice jolted her fully awake. She propped herself up and glanced around the room in a panic.
There was no sign of Brandon anywhere.

She then noticed the video call was still ongoing.

Scared that he’d seen her messy morning face, she ignored his confused expression and hung up the call in a hurry.
She stared at the call record–over nine hours–and her phone was down to five percent battery.
Is Brandon crazy?
He’d told her not to hang up last night, and she’d obeyed.
She’d assumed he would end the call once she fell asleep.
She never expected him to stay connected the entire night.
She worried constantly if she’d drooled or snored in her sleep while he was watching.
Yvette touched the corner of her mouth, feeling flustered, and got out of bed to wash up.
After she finished in the bathroom, she picked up her charging phone and saw a new message from Brandon, “Why did you hang up so suddenly?”
She replied, “My phone died.”
“Remember to eat breakfast. Text me when you’re free.”
“Okay.”
“I miss you.”
Those three words popped up on her screen out of nowhere.
Her heart raced wildly. She covered her mouth in shock, eyes instantly turning watery.
Could these simple words mean he was slowly falling for her?
Her hands trembled as she held the phone, unable to calm her pounding heart.
She had no idea how to reply.
With a mix of excitement and nervousness, she headed to work.
She zoned out constantly throughout the day. Every few minutes, she’d pull out her phone and stare at that short message, giggling foolishly to herself.

Brandon didn’t send another message for the rest of the day. Their last conversation stayed on those three sweet words.
Being apart had been a messy blend of bitterness, longing, and sweet moments.
She’d eagerly counted down the days until his return.
Unfortunately, an unexpected accident broke out at the Midian branch. Brandon got even busier.
He barely had time to text her. Some nights, he was still working late when she fell asleep, missing their nightly video calls entirely.
His originally planned two–week business trip ended up extending for over two months.
Meanwhile, Cayden had returned from his travels.

The southern breeze picked up in September. Though autumn had arrived, the weather still felt warm and stuffy.
Yvette stayed busy until ten o’clock at night for an autumn fashion show.
Completely worn out, she drove home alone.
