After the Cold Marriage His Crazy Love (Iris and Julian) novel Chapter 80

Chapter 80 Unexpected Opportunities

Iris nodded politely. “Yes, Ms. Burke.”

“So young and talented!” Mildred Burke sighed. “But I don’t think our hospital carries any drugs from Health Bio.”

“I started Health Bio myself. It’s been four years now. It’s not a big company, and we don’t have much brand recognition. Half the time, we can’t even get into hospitals in the first place.”

Just then, a middle-aged guy from across the table leaned over. “If it’s a good drug, there’s no hierarchy in

hospitals.”

“Exactly,” Mildred said. She really admired Iris-so young and gifted. Being a woman too, she felt a bond. “Got your product materials? Let me check them out.”

“Yeah!” Iris was stoked. She quickly pulled a stack of prepped materials out of her bag and handed them to the two seniors she’d been chatting with.

They read them closely.

When they finished, they nodded.

Mildred said, “A drug’s all about how well it works and how safe it is, not how big the company is.”

The leader sitting next to her chimed in. “Totally.”

Then, other people held out their hands, curious about the drug and wanting to see the materials too.

Iris stood up and passed them out nicely.

Julian had been smart to tell her to prep over a dozen copies. They finally came in handy.

Everyone had that professional instinct.

When it came to medicine or drugs, they all wanted to take a peek and learn more.

Then, a calm director finished the materials. He spoke like a kind, easygoing elder. “Ms. Whitlow, this is a good drug. Bring samples and materials to our hospital later. Our clinicians will do a risk assessment. If they like it and it passes the department review, submit an application and your company’s docs to our medical committee. If that goes through, you can bid to be our hospital’s drug supplier.”

The process was a hassle, but it was required for drugs to get into hospitals. Good drugs had nothing to fear from reviews.

The real fear was never getting a shot to compete with other drugs on the market.

Iris was over the moon. She walked up to the director and shook his hand with both hands, overth winte with gratitude. “Thank you so much for the chance. I really owe you one

The director smiled. “I didn’t do much. This is just our hospital’s normal proc rejected. Don’t get too ahead of yourself.”

Iris grinned, her heart racing with joy.

This was already the biggest chance she could ask for.

Mildred smiled. “Aren’t you gonna toast the director?”

Iris reached for her orange juice.

“Orange juice?” One of the male leaders laughed. “Alcohol’s how you show you mean it.”

Julian had told her not to drink.

But she couldn’t say no now. Guys had their own drinking culture. For them, alcohol was the biggest sign of respect.

The leader handed Iris a small glass of liquor. It looked like just one sip.

She took the glass, clinked it gently with the director’s, and drank it all in one polite gulp.

She’d totally underestimated that sip.

It was mellow and smooth, but it burned her throat. It was super strong.

After drinking it, even her stomach felt warm.

She squinted, holding back the fiery aftertaste.

Her expression was so cute. She was also the youngest and prettiest person there, so the older seniors wanted to toast her too.

Other leaders refilled her small glass. “Health Bio can submit materials and drugs to our hospital too. Maybe you’ll pass our medical committee’s review and join the next round of bidding.”

She was so grateful for their kindness. She held up her glass and drank it all first to show her respect Julian finished talking to the older director, turned around, and saw Iris toasting several directors.

He quickly set down his empty glass, walked over, wrapped his arm around Iris’s waist, and took the wine glass from her hand. He apologized to everyone.

“She can’t hold her liquor. Let me drink this one for her.”

Everyone there was a respected figure in medicine. They wouldn’t intentionally give her a hard time, let alone force her to drink.

They happily drank the glass with Julian, then went back to their seats to eat.

Mildred saw Julian’s worry. “Don’t stress. It was just those small shots. She’d only had four or five sips.” Julian nodded warmly, leading Iris back to her seat.

He looked calm, but his eyes were dark. He stared at Iris’s flushed cheeks, speaking softly. That liquor is
