Chapter 108 Don’t Leave Me

“Breaking up is better for both of us. You can find a man who meets your needs. I’m not good enough, okay? Stop coming to me. And stop bothering my friends. We’re done.
Rebecca was crying so hard she could barely breathe. The more she begged, the colder Ethan becarne.
Suddenly, she hugged him tight and pulled his shirt hard.
Ethan jumped back, startled.
“Rebecca! What are you doing?! Let go of me! Fuck off!”
Rebecca refused to budge. Rain soaked her hair and clothes. She lowered her head and begged over and
over.
“Please don’t break up with me, Ethan… please. I’ll do anything. I won’t cause trouble anymore. I won’t… please don’t leave me… please…”
People began to come out of the bar, one by one. When Ethan saw the crowd growing, his face tightened. He couldn’t stand the attention.
He quickly breaks free from Rebecca’s grip, trying to calm her down.
“Okay, okay. I won’t break up with you. Stop crying. Come on.”
Rebecca stopped crying right away, but her body still shook with quiet sobs.
“I’ll listen to you… I’ll be good… I won’t cry anymore…”
Ethan said, “I’ll call you a car. Go home. Take a hot shower and get some sleep. I’ll come see you after I’m done.”
Rebecca was terrified tonight. She only came to see him, but somehow, she pushed him to break up with her.
That wasn’t what she wanted. She started blaming herself again. Maybe she had asked for too much. He was so busy. Maybe she had gone too far.
After sending Rebecca off, Ethan went back into the private room. His friends saw he was soaked and started teasing him.
“Oh, having a romantic moment in the rain with your girl?”
“Wow, you young people really know how to have fun. All wet-exciting stuff, huh?”
Laughter filled the room. Ethan took off his wet jacket and tossed it aside, his face full of disgust.
He cursed, “Man, I ran into a real headache. Fuck! This is so annoying.”
One of them said, “Come on, she seems sweet and innocent. She came to find you because she cares.”

Another laughed. “You don’t know him well enough. Do you think he’s the loyal type? A girl like that-no looks, no background-just for fun. He’d never take her seriously. A guy like him is going to marry someone like Ms. Gene someday.”
“Ethan, just give her some money. That’s probably what she wants.”
“Money?” Ethan scoffed. “Everything she eats, drinks, and uses-I paid for it. She sticks to me like glue. I can’t even shake her off. So annoying.”
“Hey, Ethan, why not introduce her to us? We’ll all try our luck. Help you up with your burden. Hahaha!”
“Go ahead,” Ethan said carelessly. “If you win her over, I’ll treat you all to dinner. She’s an idiot. Really easy.”
The room filled with loud laughter as they went back to drinking and partying.
After Rebecca got home, she soon came down with a high fever from the rain.
Half-asleep, she still held her phone tightly in her hand. The ringtone and vibration were turned all the way up. She was afraid of missing even one message from Ethan.
It wasn’t until noon the next day that the loud ringing finally woke her up.
Her head burned, and everything felt blurry. She struggled to unlock her phone. But it wasn’t Ethan calling. It was Agnes.
By now, Rebecca didn’t have the strength to say anything else. Her body felt burning hot. Her head spun more and more.
Agnes heard weak sounds on the phone, like soft groans. She called out a few times, but there was no
response.
Her heart dropped. She rushed out, grabbed a cab, and went straight to Rebecca’s place. She knocked hard on the door. Again and again. After what felt like forever, the door finally opened.
Rebecca collapsed by the doorway. Her voice was barely a whisper. “A… Agnes…”
“Rebecca! Rebecca! What’s wrong with you?!”
Agnes tried to hold her up while quickly calling 911. The ambulance arrived fast and took Rebecca to the hospital.
Outside the hospital room, the doctor spoke to Agnes about her condition.
“We’ve done a full check-up,” the doctor said. “She has a fever from a bad cold. We gave her medication that’s safe for pregnant patients.
“She’s stable now. All her vitals look normal. The baby is safe too.”
Agnes froze. Her brows pulled together. “The baby? She’s pregnant?”
The doctor nodded. “Yes. About two months. Didn’t the family know?”
