Agnes' Awakening: From Zero to His Whole World novel Chapter 122

Chapter 122 Reaching Out

Even though Joseph never said it out loud, Sabrina knew he thought the same way she did. Raymond had always been the only one in the Newton family strong enough to carry their legacy.

Now the family was falling apart, and Sabrina hated watching it happen. She hoped Agnes could talk Raymond into going home and apologizing to Joseph.

When Agnes learned Raymond got kicked out of the Newtons because of her, she was shocked and a little guilty.

Raymond never refused when Agnes tried to talk sense into him. He never agreed either, but he always acted eager to please.

He never told Agnes about the other public companies he owned. Instead, he insisted he had nowhere to go after getting kicked out of the Newtons.

He ignored all of Agnes’ protests and moved into her courtyard house, absolutely refusing to leave.

He claimed it was Agnes’ fault he lost his family, that he was wounded inside and out in ways nobody could see.

He insisted Agnes owed it to him to take him in and take care of him.

Agnes felt reluctant, but when she saw Raymond acting so lost and homeless, she just couldn’t bring herself to kick him out.

She agreed to let him stay for the time being and tried her best to follow Sabrina’s advice and talk him into making peace with the Newtons.

Agnes set ground rules right away. They would live in separate rooms, lead separate lives, and absolutely keep their distance.

If Raymond ever stepped out of line, she’d throw him out on the spot.

Raymond acted like a loyal puppy, waiting every day for Agnes to come home.

He even tried to copy Agnes’s habits, making her dinner and drawing her a bath, just like she used to do for him.

Life almost felt like it did when they first got married.

Agnes couldn’t pretend she felt nothing. Every time her heart softened, she thought of Hillary. The thought of Hillary made her want to strangle Raymond.

Since their last big moment at the WOW fashion event, the shop had been flooded with order

Agnes felt fulfilled, being busy every day. Rebecca’s belly was growing larger by the week, and Agnes knew there would be major expenses when the baby arrived.

Even if she wasn’t the baby’s biological aunt, Rebecca was like a sister to her, and Agnes wanted the best for both of them.

The studio door opened and Rebecca, heavily pregnant, walked in.

Agnes jumped up and helped Rebecca to a chair. “Rebecca, what are you doing here? I told you to rest at home. Look at you. You’re huge. Don’t make me worry.”

Rebecca gave her a sheepish smile. “Agnes, I’m fine. I just get so bored at home, and the studio is slammed. I’m not that delicate, you know.”

Agnes rolled her eyes. “You could’ve just worked from home. You could’ve messaged me. Your main job now is to take care of yourself and bring that baby into the world safe and sound.”

Rebecca squeezed Agnes’s arm, her eyes misty. “I know, Agnes. I promise, I’ll be careful. Actually, I came by to tell you something. There’s this woman from Haanburg, Mrs. Quinn, whose husband is one of the biggest financial moguls around. She came to see me today. She wants to commission a custom gown from our shop.”

Agnes raised her eyebrows. “Haanburg? A financial mogul?”

Rebecca nodded. “You seriously haven’t heard of him? He’s super famous and loaded, Agnes. Can you believe Tidewhisper Lily is getting so much attention, even from people outside our city? At this rate, we’ll be global in no time.”

Agnes grinned. “Please, we’re already number one in the universe. No one can touch us.”

Rebecca burst out laughing, and Agnes joined in, both unable to stop giggling.

Agnes finally caught her breath. “You handle this one. Find out what she wants, then quote her our standard price.”

Rebecca nodded. “Got it. Mrs. Quinn needs something that really screams money. She wants to wear it to her birthday bash, and she’s tried every designer label out there but thinks they’re all too bland. She fell in love with our embroidery, especially the hand-stitched pieces. She says the style is so fresh and original. She did ask if we could add gemstones to the dress to make it even more extravagant.”

Agnes thought for a second. “We’ve added gemstones before. That’s not a problem.”

Rebecca’s voice dropped. “She wants pigeon’s-blood rubies.”

Finished

Agnes’s eyes widened. “Pigeon’s blood? That’s some rare stuff.”

Pigeon’s blood rubies were natural red gemstones, deeply saturated and incredibly pure, the absolute best in the jewelry world. Most of them came from mines in Southeast Agloria.

Sewing such precious stones onto a dress was the ultimate power move. Mrs. Quinn wasn’t shy about investing in herself.

Rebecca nodded. “Exactly. I found a jeweler who has some, but the store’s all the way in Velmara.”

Agnes frowned. “Velmara? That city’s notorious for being dangerous, Rebecca. I say we pass on this order.”

Rebecca sighed. “That’s what I thought at first. Mrs. Quinn is asking a lot, and those pigeon’s blood rubies are a headache, but then she offered a price…”

  1. That’s why I wanted to talk to you first.”

Rebecca handed her phone to Agnes, showing her the chat history. Agnes’s eyes widened the second she saw the price. She couldn’t even count all the zeroes behind that number.

Rebecca could barely breathe. “Mrs. Quinn is unbelievably generous. If we take this commission, “Tidewhisper Lily’ could close tomorrow, and we’d never have to worry about money again. My heart’s pounding, Agnes. If we pull this off, we could coast for the rest of our lives.

“I asked the jewelry store if they could ship the stones, but they said they’re too valuable. They’re worried about something going wrong in transit. We’ll have to pick them up ourselves but with all the paperwork, we can get in and out quick. What do you think, Agnes?”

Agnes still looked hesitant, so Rebecca pressed harder. “Agnes, this is worth it. Once the baby’s here, I probably won’t be able to help you much. I want to do what I can now, so things will be easier for us both.

“Think about it, Agnes.”

The word “baby” made Agnes falter.

Ethan was a mess, but he was still Rebecca’s child’s father.

He was in a coma, and Agnes couldn’t shake the guilt she felt toward Rebecca and her baby. When Rebecca said she wanted to help, Agnes wanted to help her make more money too so Rebecca could have a better life.

Agnes said, “Rebecca, can you set up a meeting with Mrs. Quinn? I want to talk to her myself.”

Rebecca’s face lit up. She agreed immediately.

When Agnes got home, she started digging into Mrs. Quinn and her husband, the finance titan. Everything checked out. Their identities were real.

Over the next few days, Rebecca arranged for Agnes and Mrs. Quinn to meet. The two of them hit it off right away.

Mrs. Quinn even gave Agnes a diamond necklace at their first meeting, flashing her wealth.

Agnes politely turned it down, but Mrs. Quinn insisted she adored Agnes’s embroidery and would pay anything for a one-of-a-kind gown.
