Chapter 136 Dangerous
He told Agnes, “You go first. Don’t worry about me. I’ll meet you back in Grandridge later.”
Agnes latched onto Raymond’s arm, her eyes wild with fear. “No! I want you to come with me!”
Before Raymond court answer, Bisky interrupted, his voice arrogant and smug. “Sorry, but our boss wants to see both of you.”
Raymond’s expression turned deadly, his voice cold and sharp. “If you’ve got something to say, say it to me. She’s got nothing to do with this. Let her leave.”
Bisky answered, “Sorry, but this all started because of her. Our boss just wants to confirm/a few things with
her.
“Mr. Newton, I’ve been as polite as possible. Yesterday, we left you alone out of respect for the Wolfpack, but she still owes us an explanation.”
Agnes snapped, “I owe you an explanation? I haven’t done anything! You’re the ones who keep coming after me!”
Bisky gave Agnes a leering look, his hand dropping to his belt. The men behind him mirrored the movement, their hands shifting to their belts.
Bisky said, “Let’s go.”
Raymond’s eyes burned with rage, his voice as sharp as broken glass. “If you touch her, I’ll make you and your whole family regret it.”
Bisky’s face twitched. He was a seasoned criminal, vicious and cold, but something about Raymond unsettled him.
He still had backup, so he gave the order to take Raymond and Agnes to their hideout.
Inside, Agnes finally met their so–called boss, a man with long hair.
The boss looked refined and pale, nothing like someone hardened by southern summers.
He greeted them politely and had someone bring out a platter of fruit.
The boss said, “Sorry for dragging you here. I just need to clear up a few things.”
As soon as he finished, a heavyset bald man stepped forward, a bandage over one eye and a red stain seeping through the white cloth.
The boss continued, “I can’t just let my men take the fall for nothing. See for yourself—my guy lost an eye because of this woman. I need an explanation.”
Agnes blurted out, “He attacked me! He tried to drag me away, and I had no choice but to defend myself! I never meant to hurt him!”
The boss replied, “You didn’t hold back. He lost an eye in just one move. How’s he supposed to live like
this?”

Chapter 136 Dangerous
Raymond cut in, his tone firm. “Let’s get to the point. What do you want?”
The boss smiled slyly. “Mr. Newton, you’re direct. To make things right for my guy, I want her to give up an eye. Or a hand. Either will do.”
Raymond asked, “What if I don’t agree?”
The boss paused, then said, “Then I’m afraid this is where things end for both of you.”
Raymond saw that the boss was purposely making things difficult. The Wolfpack had already settled things yesterday, and plenty of money had changed hands.
Now this boss was changing the deal, and Raymond was certain someone else was working behind the
scenes.
Suddenly, the boss pulled a sharp knife from his belt and tossed it onto the table in front of Agnes.
He said, “Go on. If you care about your boyfriend, or even yourself, you’re not getting out of this. Such a pretty face. It’s a shame.”
Agnes‘ eyes filled with tears. She had truly believed she would go home to Grandridge today, but fate had other plans.
She blamed herself for everything. She was the one who insisted on coming to Velmara, and now she had blinded the bald man. She couldn’t let Raymond suffer for her mistakes,
Her hands shook as she reached for the knife, but before she could grab it, a much larger hand snatched it
first.
Agnes stared at Raymond in shock. “Raymond, what are you doing?”
Raymond told her, “I promised I’d get you back to Grandridge. I’m not letting anyone hurt you again. Turn your head. I’ll be fine. It’s just a hand.”
Hot tears streamed down Agnes’s cheeks. She clung to Raymond’s arm, her voice shredded by tears.
