"So you want to drink? Fine. I'll drink with you."

Rebecca tilted her head back and downed the entire bottle of liquor in one go.

"Still want more? Didn't you say you wanted to drink? Then let's go all out tonight. We'll drink till we drop!"

She grabbed more bottles from nearby, cracking them open one after another and shoving them into Duncan's hands.

"Let's just drink ourselves to death. Screw revenge. We deserve everything that's happened to us.

"When we're done, we'll go join Ms. Hale. Come on, drink!

"Agnes and Raymond got what they wanted. Drink, drink!"

Duncan stood there, stunned, watching her knock back bottle after bottle.

He didn't even know how many she had finished before he grabbed her wrist.

"That's enough, Rebecca. Stop."

Rebecca said, "Didn't you want to drink? Then drink. Why'd you stop?

"Ms. Hale's gone. I feel it too. Come on, Duncan.

"You want to fall apart? Then let's fall apart together!"

She tried to keep drinking, but his grip held her in place.

"I said enough, Rebecca."

Duncan snatched the bottle from her hand and tossed it aside.

Silence fell between them, thick with the smell of alcohol.

After a long pause, Duncan finally spoke.

"I'll pull myself together. I'll avenge Monica. I won't let those two get away with this.

"Even if I die, I'll drag them down with me!"

A spark lit up in Rebecca's eyes. She answered immediately, "That's right. Think about everything we've been through and who caused it. You need to stand up again.

"Duncan, I told you I'd help you. The only thing we can rely on now is the Shaws.

"You carry their blood. Even if you're an illegitimate son, you still have the right to their name and everything that comes with it."

Duncan understood what she meant, but he also knew how much the Shaws cared about their reputation.

Otherwise, Matthew wouldn't have refused to even let him take the Shaw name.
