Just as Agnes stepped out of the studio, she was surprised to see Neal standing by the entrance.

"Agnes."

She paused, slightly startled. "Neal? What are you doing here?"

Neal smiled as he walked closer. "My birthday's in a few days. I came to personally invite you."

Agnes let out a soft laugh. "You could've just called me. You didn't have to come all the way here."

"That wouldn't feel right. You're important to me. I had to invite you in person, or I'd worry you wouldn't come." He chuckled.

Agnes stood there, a faint smile lingering on her lips.

She hesitated for a moment, as if thinking something through.

In the end, she agreed to Neal's invitation.

A flicker of excitement passed through Neal's heart because he was planning to do something very important at his birthday party.

He looked at her gently. "Where are you headed?"

Agnes replied, "Oh, I'm going to the hospital for a follow-up. Don't worry, I'll be there for your birthday."

Then, she suddenly thought of something and smiled.

"By the way, Mr. Ruell, what do you want for your birthday?"

Neal chuckled softly. "If you come, I'll already be more than satisfied. I don't need anything else."

Agnes rolled her eyes playfully. "That won't do. Who has a birthday without gifts? Come on, don't be shy."

Neal lowered his gaze to her, something almost obsessive flickering in his eyes.

"To me, you are the gift."

Agnes gave him an annoyed look. "If you won't say, then I'll just decide myself."

Neal chuckled. "I mean it. As long as you come, nothing else matters."

Before she could respond, he changed the subject.

"By the way, are you going to Frank's hospital? I happen to be heading there too. Let's go together."

Agnes blinked. "You're going to the hospital too? Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. I have a friend there. He's been hospitalized."

In truth, Neal had been waiting outside her studio since early morning.

A few days ago, he had learned she would be coming to the hospital for an eye checkup today.

He knew that if he asked directly to accompany her, she would refuse.

So he used the birthday invitation as an excuse to come see her.

Since he was also heading to the hospital, Agnes didn't refuse. They went together.
