So, when Raymond heard that Neal had gone to the hospital to see her, he suddenly felt that maybe this was for the best.
At least she had someone there to protect her.
Right now, staying by her side would only make him a useless burden.
Agnes stopped crying and said, "Raymond, do you really think doing this will make me forgive you?!
"Dream on! I hate you even more now! Who wants your corneas!
"Why do you always have to meddle in everything? Why are you still hanging around me after the divorce?!
"You have your own career, your own life. Why can't you just focus on being the Newtons' heir?!"
Raymond shouted back, "Yes! I am that terrible! You're right! I deserved to get divorced! I brought it on myself!"
His voice was filled with anger and stubborn pain.
"I just like minding other people's business! Especially yours! Everything I do is just me being arrogant!
"I like it! I want to do it! It's none of your business! Now you... get out!"
Agnes was shaking with anger. Her eyes were red as she said, "Fine. Good for you!
"And remember this. I'm not someone you can order around!
"I'll leave when I want, and I'll come back when I want. You don't get to control me!"
Tears ran down her face as Agnes turned and walked away without looking back.
Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks. Biting her lip, she threw out one last line. "Raymond, you really disappointed me!"
Raymond froze in place. He listened to her footsteps fading away.
It felt like his heart was being squeezed tight, like a heavy stone was crushing his heart, making it hard to breathe.
After Agnes got back, she kept tossing and turning in bed, unable to sleep. His face kept showing up in her mind.
Before she knew it, her pillow was already soaked with tears.
Today, at Frank's hospital, she went to the restroom.
By chance, she overheard two nurses chatting at the sink outside.
"Hey, why hasn't Dr. Shaw's friend come to the hospital in days?"
"Oh please, don't tell me you've got a thing for him now? Look at you, totally obsessed already. Get yourself together, girl!"
"Haha, like you weren't into him, too. That face... He's seriously handsome. I almost lost it..."
"Look at you acting all lovestruck. But yeah, he really is handsome. And his body too... It's a shame he's blind now."
"Sigh, I remember he was fine when he first came in. How did he suddenly lose his sight?"
"Didn't you know? The woman who came to the hospital with him had a really serious eye injury. They say that handsome guy donated his corneas to her."
"W-what?! No way!!!"
