Brooke wheeled toward the crowd, her voice climbing. "This has nothing to do with me! This man is a thief! A criminal! You can't believe a word out of his mouth! He's just some crook trying to rob and kill people!"

Her eyes reddened as she spoke, and she choked out the rest between sobs. "I caught him going through someone's bag. When I confronted him, he dropped to his knees and begged me.

"Said it was a moment of weakness, said he had a family to feed, elderly parents, kids, the whole sob story. I felt sorry for him, so I let it go!"

She turned on Kyle with a vicious glare, jabbing her finger at his face.

"And this is how he repays me? Trying to drag me down with him so he doesn't go down alone! You're disgusting! Go ahead and investigate. This has absolutely nothing to do with me!"

The guests in the lobby erupted.

"So it was you! I've been wondering what happened to my watch. That was worth millions!"

"I lost a diamond ring and a necklace!"

"I'm missing a limited-edition designer brooch!"

"So you've all had things go missing too? I reported mine to the staff, they checked the security footage, and I figured I must've dropped it in the ocean.

"Turns out it was one of their own people the whole time! No wonder nothing ever showed up! This is revolting! I want compensation!"

"Unbelievable. What exactly is the Grandridge Coastal Ecology Foundation doing out here? One disaster after another!

"They sweet-talk us into coming out for a charity event, 'let's protect the environment together,' and meanwhile we've walked straight into a den of thieves!"

One of the island's team leaders rushed out to address the crowd. "We sincerely apologize, everyone. This was an oversight on our part. Kyle Jenner's actions were entirely his own, and we assure you we will conduct a thorough investigation and provide a full accounting to each of you."

He rounded on Kyle, his voice sharp. "You'd better come clean about everything! I hired you because you seemed honest and hardworking. Is this how you thank me?"

Kyle wrung his hands, tears streaming. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I got greedy. I lost my head. But..."

He suddenly grabbed the team leader's arm, frantic. "But I didn't try to kill anyone!!!"

He pointed at Brooke. "She's the one who told me to go to Ms. Sinclair and say Mr. Newton was waiting for her over there. Everything else has nothing to do with me!"

The tactical team leader walked in. He approached Raymond.
