Chapter 75 A Deal on the Table

“Ms. Sinclair?” Nealealled softly when he noticed Agnes zoning out.

Agnes blinked. “Hmm, I don’t know him. I’ve just heard of him.”

“I’m still looking into it,” Neal said. “Does this man have any history with Rebecca?”

“No. They don’t know each other.”

“Don’t worry,” Neal reassured her. “I’ve already sent someone to track him down. This is Grandridge. He won’t cause much trouble.”

Agnes nodded, but her thoughts were a mess.

Soon, the head chef and servers rolled over a cart and placed several dishes on the table. Agnes had never seen before. They looked amazing.

She took a few bites. Delicious. Absolutely incredible.

To Agnes, there was nothing in this world that a good meal couldn’t fix. And if one meal wasn’t enough, then two. Or three.

She ate with real enjoyment. Across from her, Neal watched with a faint smile, clearly pleased.

“Agnes,” he said after a while, “what are your plans moving forward? You and Raymond…”

He paused. “Sorry, that might be too personal. You don’t have to answer.”

Agnes paused for a second, then kept eating. Her voice stayed calm.

“I only finished two years of college. I had to drop out for personal reasons. I think… I want to go back and finish my degree. I don’t want any regrets.”

Neal noticed she avoided mentioning Raymond. He didn’t press. Instead, he followed her lead.

“Have you ever thought about St. Austen University? A lot of its programs rank in the top ten worldwide.”

Her eyes lit up. “Of course I’ve thought about it. But I know that school–it’s a top private university. Most students there come from powerful or wealthy families. Even if you have money, that doesn’t mean you can get in.”

Neal rested his chin on one hand and looked at her with a small smile. “Do you want to go?”

Agnes looked confused. “That’s… not really up to me, is it?” She gave a small laugh. “I know my place.”

Neal chuckled. “I forgot to mention I’m one of the shareholders. Getting someone in isn’t a problem. So, Agnes, do you want to go?”

She hesitated. Clearly tempted. To be honest, she really did want to go.

Before she went to find Raymond, she had already looked into his university. It had a long history and

strong academic reputation. A dream school for many.

But back then, she had neither money nor connections. Now she had money, but still lacked the right

connections.

And now, Neal had just handed her that opportunity. She felt surprised and excited.

“Really?” she asked. “You’re a shareholder? Then… if I get in, how should I thank you?”

“You don’t need to thank me,” Neal said easily. “We’re friends, right? Friends help each other.”

“That’s true,” Agnes said, smiling. “But if I get in, I’ll owe you a huge favor. You can save it for later. When you think of something. I’ll help you out. Deal?”

Neal laughed. “Deal. I’ll take care of it. Just wait for my message.”

They had a great dinner. The conversation flowed easily. They talked about everything and arrything.

Neal told a joke, and Agnes laughed at it.

Neither of them noticed the sharp, furious gaze fixed on them from the restaurant entrance.

Suddenly, that figure rushed toward their table like a storm. A harsh female voice cut through the warm atmosphere.

“Agnes! You heartless bitch! How dare you sit here and eat like nothing happened?!”

Agnes and Neal looked up. It was Ursa.

She had come to the same restaurant that night and ran straight into Agnes and Neal having an affair.
