Agnes' Awakening: From Zero to His Whole World novel Chapter 85

Chapter 85 A Small Secret

Duncan’s eyes lit up in an instant, like bright headlights cutting through the darkness. Ther was a greedy spark in them.

He grinned at Ethan, looking a little shady. “Man, you’re something else. Same deal as alway send it to the group. Let the guys take a look.”

After school, Agnes called Rebecca and asked her out for dinner. They went to the same restaurant Neal had taken her to before.

When they met, Rebecca was thrilled to hear that Agnes would be going to St. Austen University.

Rebecca’s college was not far from St. Austen, so they could look out for each other.

Agnes chose the same major as before, fashion design. But this time, she also signed up for a few marketing classes.

Rebecca studied business administration. They had picked that major together before, since Rebecca planned to work with Agnes in the future.

Agnes was happy about that, but she also told Rebecca that if she ever found something better for herself, she should go for it.

“No need to worry about me,” Agnes said. “I’ll always support you. Our friendship won’t change

Rebecca felt deeply grateful. When her life had been at its lowest, Agnes had given her hope and pulled her out of it.

After dinner, Rebecca brought Agnes to see her new place.

The apartment was old, but the inside had been redone in a modern style. It felt fresh and full of personality, suitable for someone their age.

Agnes had a sharp eye. It didn’t take long for her to notice small details.

In the bathroom, there was an extra blue cup. Around the house, many things came in pairs.

Agnes stepped onto the balcony. She looked up and saw clothes Rebecca hadn’t taken in yet. Among them was a man’s set of pajamas.

Agnes blinked, a little surprised. Huh?

Agnes turned back. “Rebecca, are you living here alone?”

Rebecca froze. She had forgotten to take the clothes in. She looked embarrassed. She had wanted to tell Agnes, but never found the right time.

Now that Agnes had noticed, she decided to just be honest.

“Agnes… I do live alone, but… my boyfriend… sometimes comes over…”

Rebecca’s voice dropped to a soft murmur, almost like a whisper. Her cheeks turned red as spoke.

Agnes didn’t mind her having a boyfriend. She just thought Rebecca was too innocent. She didn’t want her to get hurt.

So she asked gently, “Rebecca… is it that Ethan from last time?”

Rebecca nodded. “Yeah.”

Agnes looked at her. “How does he treat you?”

Rebecca lowered her head, her face glowing. “Agnes, he treats me really well. I love him so much. He even said… he said after we graduate, he’ll marry me.”

Her voice grew softer. She smiled shyly, already imagining herself in a white wedding dress, walking toward the man she loved.

Agnes took her hand. “Has he taken you to meet his parents?”

Rebecca quickly shook her head. “Not yet. Agnes, we’re still students. Isn’t that too fast? I’m kin of scared. But Ethan said he already told his parents about me. He said they like me a lot.” She giggled.

Agnes paused. “Do you know what kind of family Ethan comes from?”

Rebecca’s eyes lit up at once. She leaned closer, excited.

“Agnes, you know what? I only found out after we started dating-he’s actually really rich! His family is one of the biggest in Grandridge. He told me that after we get married, I don’t even have to work. Even if I don’t, he’ll take care of me for life. He said he’ll always be responsible for me.”

Agnes felt uneasy. To be honest, the gap between Rebecca and Ethan was big.

Agnes had married into a wealthy family herself. She knew how things worked in those circles. Status mattered. Background mattered.

If it weren’t for Judy’s strong support, she and Raymond would never have gotten married.
