Chapter 97 Frozen and Found

Out of caution, Neal went to the classroom where Agnes had been earlier. There, he ran into Raymond.
The two exchanged a few sharp words, as always. But soon, they both realized something was wrong. No one could reach Agnes.
They pushed aside their personal issues. Something didn’t feel right.
Neal called Rebecca first. She said she hadn’t seen Agnes, and she couldn’t reach her either.
Right away, Neal called in all the campus security guards and told them to search everywhere.
Rebecca rushed over with Ethan. They joined the search.
Neal and Raymond went straight to the security room. They checked the cameras. The footage showed that Agnes had entered the school but never left. She was still somewhere inside.
They split up and reviewed every camera feed. Every hallway. Every corner. Finally, they found her.
Agnes had gone into the school cafeteria and never came out.
Everyone ran there as fast as they could.
By then, Agnes had been locked in the freezer for hours.
Her body was stiff. Her breathing was weak. Frost clung to her long eyelashes.
In her daze, she thought she saw her mother. Her mother stood there, smiling gently. Judy was beside her, holding her arm. They looked calm and warm.
They waved at her. Agnes let out a weak whisper. “Mom…”
She reached out her hand, trying to touch her. Then she heard voices calling her. “Agnes! Agnes! Agnes!”
She saw Raymond too. He was there, holding her tight. His arms felt so warm.
For a moment, it felt like the early days of their marriage again—soft, sweet, and full of love. “Raymond…
you… came back…” she murmured.
She couldn’t tell what was real anymore. Everything felt light, like she was floating.
It must be a dream, she thought. She saw her mother again. She saw Judy. Even Raymond’s cold face had turned gentle in this dream.
But the voices around her grew louder. “Agnes! Don’t fall asleep! Wake up! Don’t be scared! Stay with us!
“Agnes! Please, someone help her! Please! Agnes, wake up!
“Move! Move! Make space!”
“The ambulance is here! Hurry!”

Agnes slowly opened her eyes. Raymond’s face was right in front of her. It was full of fear and worry.
Everything around her buzzed. People rushed back and forth, busy and tense.
When she opened her eyes again, she was lying in a large private hospital room. Her mind was foggy.
Am I dead? Is this heaven?
But the sharp pain all over her body told her the truth. This wasn’t a dream. And it wasn’t heaven. She had been saved.
“You’re awake.”
Raymond sat beside her bed, holding her hand. From the moment they found her until now, he hadn’t left her side.
Agnes didn’t even have the strength to speak. She forced out a weak voice. “I… you…”
Raymond gently stopped her. “Don’t talk. You’re safe now. We can talk when you’re better.”
Her mind was full of questions. How did he find her?
What surprised her even more was the fact that-at the very last moment before she passed out, the person she thought of was this jerk.
And now, the Raymond in front of her looked exactly like the one she had seen through her haze-gentle, patient, almost tender.
He leaned close to her ear and spoke softly, “I’ll stay with you these next few days. I asked Megan to come. You like her cooking, right? She’ll take care of you. I’ll feel better knowing she’s here.”
Then he added, “Neal had people check all the school security footage. They found a woman who went into the cafeteria before you. Her name is Lucy. I’ve seen the videos online. I know you two had issues.”
His voice turned colder. “She’s on the run now. But don’t worry I’ve already sent people to find her. Everyone in Grandridge answers to me. She won’t get far.”

Agnes couldn’t say a word. She just looked at him, something in her chest shifting slightly.
After spending hours in that freezer, her body had almost shut down. For days, her hands and feet felt numb, like they didn’t belong to her.
After staying in the hospital for several days, with nurses helping massage her limbs every day, she was finally able to walk a little inside the room.
That day, Agnes sat on her bed, slowly drinking the soup Megan had made for her. Suddenly, a familiar and warm voice came from outside the room.
“Agnes!”
