Chapter 113: The Taste of Regret
Chapter 113: The Taste of Regret
(Amelia’s POV)
I smirked at the fake concern plastered on Celine’s face. It was pathetic.
“Admit it, Celine,” I said, my voice cold. “You are scared to death.”
I took a step toward her. Her smile faltered.
Claim
“You are terrified that I will actually heal Theodore,” I continued. “You know that if he walks again, you will be kicking yourself for the rest of your life. You tossed aside a powerful Alpha heir like he was garbage.”
Celine opened her mouth to speak, but I cut her off.
“And you completely blew it with Rhys, too,” I added. “Just so you know, when you called him crying, he put you on speaker. I was right there. I heard everything. He wants nothing to do with you.”
Celine’s expression went stiff. I knew I had hit a nerve. Adrian and Livia were definitely pressuring her. They needed her to hook a big fish, and she was failing. She thought she could just bat her eyelashes and get Theodore back.
“Face it. You aren’t even on the board anymore,” I said ruthlessly. “You are a pawn that got played. If this plan fails, you are just an adopted daughter with no blood ties. You’ll have to find a sugar daddy or sell yourself to keep buying those designer bags.”
။
I tilted my head, feigning sympathy. “As for money? I have enough capital to buy your ridiculous pride, but I won’t even waste the effort to open my wallet.”
The elevator dinged. The doors slid open.
I walked in. Celine hesitated, clutching her takeout bag, her face pale. Then she followed me inside.
The doors closed, trapping us together.
I wasn’t done yet.
“Since you are so desperate to show your face,” I said, glancing at her. “Why not help out at the engagement party? We are short on staff. You could serve the hors d’oeuvres. You seem very good at sucking up to people.”

Celine shook with rage. She squeezed the bag in her hand until her knuckles turned white. She forced a hideous, tight smile.
“I don’t think so,” she hissed.
“Suit yourself,” I shrugged. “You really don’t know how to grab an opportunity.”
The elevator stopped at the sixth floor. I stepped out without looking back.
“You won’t last!” Celine screamed as the doors began to close. “The Crimson family will eat you alive!”
I kept walking. Her shrill voice was cut off by the metal doors.
(Amelia’s POV)
I pushed open the door to the hospital room. I walked to the bedside and placed the Tupperware container on the nightstand.
“Eat,” I said. “Seraphina made beef and toast for you.’

Theodore was leaning against the headboard, reading a financial magazine. He put it down immediately. He looked at me with amusement in his eyes.
“Who upset my fiancée?” he asked.
I sat on the edge of the bed. I opened my bag of herbs and oils to check the nerves in his legs.
“I ran into Celine downstairs,” I grumbled. “Talking to her is a waste of my life. She knows I can fix your legs. Now she wants to come crawling back.”
Theodore raised his hands in surrender.
“I swear, I never did anything to give her the wrong idea,” he said. “I don’t understand where she gets the confidence. Why would I be interested in leftovers?”
“Because you are a male,” I said. I poured some aromatic oil onto my hands. I began to massage his calf muscles to stimulate blood flow. “And she thinks no male creature can
resist her ‘charm‘.”
Theodore opened the food container. The smell of roast beef filled the room.
“I have no interest in fake women,” he stated firmly. “Just looking at her makes me lose my appetite.”

“Why chase her away?” I snorted. “Watching her run around like a headless chicken is my favorite entertainment lately. She is trying to win back a man who doesn’t care. She is like a rat with a broken leg.”
I pressed my thumb into a pressure point on his knee.
“Crushing her now is too boring,” I said darkly. “I want to wait until she thinks she has climbed out of the trap. Then I will stomp her back into the mud.”
Theodore nodded while chewing. “Agreed. Since it is just the two of us, let’s not talk about
that buzzkill.”
I looked at him. He seemed to be carefully choosing his words to avoid annoying me further. I couldn’t help but chuckle.
*Admit it,* Ava wagged her tail in my mind. *You were marking your territory. But the Alpha is behaving well.*
Theodore ate his lunch with gusto. He watched me work on his legs. He didn’t know exactly what Celine had said, but he could taste the sourness in my tone.
To him, the jealousy meant I cared. He thought the lunch tasted extra sweet.
(Celine’s POV)
I fixed my makeup in the hallway mirror before entering Ethan’s room. I needed to look composed.
When I walked in, Ethan was standing by the window. He was gripping a document tightly. His brow was furrowed, and he looked like the sky was falling.
“Ethan?” I asked softly. “What are you reading?”
He turned around slowly. His face was dark. He handed me the papers without a word.
I took them. My eyes scanned the first page.
My face went white.
“Oh my god…” I whispered. “Amelia has a past like this? She… she is a psycho.”
“It’s true,” Ethan said, his voice low. “That history is full of blood and violence. She is an extremely dangerous person.”
My heart skipped a beat. Panic rose in my throat.

“Where did you get this?” I asked quickly.
Claim
“It was in an encrypted file on Caleb’s phone,” Ethan explained. “He hired a private investigator to track Amelia’s past before his accident. The decryption just finished today.”
I felt a cold sweat. That was the day I found out Caleb was investigating me. I was terrified there would be evidence of me hiring the hitman for the car crash.
“Is there… anything else on his phone?” I asked, trying to sound casual.
Ethan shook his head. “No. Just this background check on Amelia.”
I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding. I was safe.
I looked down at the document again. The fear in my eyes turned into excitement.
“Look at these records, Ethan,” I said. “She isn’t a socialite. She is a ticking time bomb. A killing machine with an unstable mind.”
I stepped closer to him. I lowered my voice to a conspiratorial whisper.
“I met Amelia in the parking lot just now,” I said. “I rode the elevator with her. Now that I see this, it gives me the creeps.”
I looked Ethan in the eye.
“Ethan, think about it. If Alpha Alaric or the Crimson family knew about this? If they knew their future Luna was a maniac who could snap at any moment and bring disaster to the Pack? Do you really think they would still let her marry him?”
