Chapter 118: Make Her Kneel
Chapter 118: Make Her Kneel
(Amelia’s POV)
“What are you laughing at?” Lyra let out a sharp, angry cry. Her voice cracked with indignation.
Claim
I didn’t even blink at my aunt’s sudden outburst. I sat back on the plush sofa, looking completely at ease. I lifted my hand and inspected my freshly manicured nails, looking for any microscopic imperfections.
“Lyra, darling, let’s be realistic,” I said, my voice dripping with boredom. I didn’t even look at her face.
“Rowan Calder is indeed returning to Northgate City tomorrow,” I admitted, lowering my hand.
I finally looked up at her, my expression filled with pity.
“But your mate? Caleb Drake?” I shook my head slowly. “He is a glorified benchwarmer in the Drake family. Do you really think he has the pull to send a top–tier Alpha like Rowan to a meeting? That is just embarrassing.”
Lyra’s face turned a violent shade of red. The veins in her neck bulged.
I reached for my wine glass on the table. I swirled the red liquid, watching it dance against the crystal.
“And as for changing names?” I scoffed, taking a small sip. “Save it. I was born a Stone. You are the one desperate to plaster your mate’s last name on your forehead just to feel important.”
Lyra was trembling with rage now. She took a step forward, her eyes manic. She looked like she wanted to slap me, but my earlier display of aura held her back.
“Fine,” she hissed, her voice shaking. “Since you are so confident.”
She pointed a shaking finger at the floor between us.
“If my mate succeeds in getting an appointment with Rowan Calder, you will kneel right here,” she declared venomously. “You will submit to me in front of everyone.”
Her eyes narrowed, gleaming with greed.
“And if the Drake family facilitates the cooperation between Stone River Botanicals and the

Calders, you forfeit your right to inherit any shares.”
Seraphina stepped forward immediately. Her face was pale.
“That is absurd! I won’t allow-”
I cut her off with a calm look. I placed a hand on her arm.
“It’s fine, Mom,” I said softly.
I turned my sharp gaze back to Lyra. The playfulness was gone from my eyes.
Claim
“I’ll take the bet on kneeling,” I said, my voice dropping to a chilly tone. “Seeing you grovel is on my bucket list, after all.”
Lyra looked triumphant for a split second before I continued.
“But my shares?” I laughed dryly. “That is not up for negotiation. Those aren’t snacks for scavengers like you to fight over. If you dare to touch my money, we are going to have a big problem.”
Lyra realized she couldn’t touch my existing property. She ground her teeth. She spun around to face Grandfather Alaric, who was watching with interest.
“Father,” she pleaded. “If I make this happen, Adrian and I deserve a reward.”
ו
Alaric sat in the main chair, his face impassive. He enjoyed seeing us fight. To him, conflict bred strength.
“If the cooperation succeeds through your mate,” Alaric said slowly. “I will transfer another 10% of Stone River Botanicals to your branch.”
Lyra beamed. She looked at me with pure malice.
“Deal,” she said.
I smirked. Watching these greedy clowns perform was better than TV.
Lyra took Alaric’s arm, ready to march out like a conquering queen.
“Don’t leave just yet, Auntie,” I called out. My voice was lazy but carried a heavy threat. “High stakes go both ways.”
Lyra froze. She turned back, glaring at me.
I stood up from the sofa. I walked toward her slowly, letting my Alpha aura leak out just enough to make the air heavy.

“If Caleb Drake fails to get Rowan,” I said clearly.
I paused for effect, standing toe–to–toe with her.
“And notice I said *when*, not *if*.”
I pointed at the floor beneath her expensive heels.
“You will fire Adrian’s arrogant butler immediately. And you will kneel right here.”
I gestured to the spot.
“You will submit to me,” I said coldly. “And you will apologize for wasting my oxygen.”
Claim
Lyra’s eyes went wide. Her mouth hung open. For a high–society lady to kneel to a ‘country bumpkin‘ was worse than death.
She opened her mouth to refuse.
“What’s the matter?” I asked, tilting my head mockingly. “Don’t you have faith in your mate? Or do you know deep down he has no voice in the Drake family?”
The insult hit home. Her pride wouldn’t let her back down now. Her face twisted in anger.
“It’s a deal!” Lyra spat through gritted teeth. “Just wait until you are ruined, you uncultured stray!”
Alaric nodded, looking satisfied with the outcome.
“Good,” he grunted. “This is how a Stone should act. Ruthless.”
He looked at me with his sharp grey eyes.
“Prepare for your Marking Ceremony tomorrow,” he ordered. “Don’t embarrass us.”
He turned and walked out. Lyra gave a haughty huff, shot me one last glare, and followed him, her nose in the air.
The room went quiet. The tension slowly dissipated.
Seraphina rushed over to me, grabbing my hands. Her palms were sweating.
“Amelia,” she whispered, anxiety lines etching her forehead. “The Drake family does have business ties. What if they actually manage it?”
“Relax, Mom,” I said.
I pulled out my phone from my pocket. I dialed a number and hit the speaker button.

“Let’s ask the man himself,” I said, holding the phone up.
The phone rang twice before connecting.
“Amelia?” Rowan’s warm, familiar voice filled the room.
Claim
“Rowan, quick question,” I said, adjusting my collar casually. “There are some pests here who think they have an appointment with you. Name is Caleb Drake?”
I laughed softly. “I told them they were dreaming.”
A loud, hearty laugh came from the phone. It sounded genuinely amused.
“Caleb Drake? Who is that?” Rowan asked. “Sounds like a nobody. I’ve never heard of him.”
Seraphina gasped softly, her hand covering her mouth. Her eyes went wide.
“Listen to me, kid,” Rowan continued, his voice firm. “I am coming to Northgate City for one reason. You and your ceremony. As for that bastard Adrian? I have zero interest in talking business with him.”
Seraphina stared at the phone, then at me.
The fear in her eyes melted away. It was replaced by a look of relief. And then, slowly, pride.
She finally realized I wasn’t the little girl who needed protection anymore. I was the one holding the cards.
“I figured as much,” I said into the phone, smiling at my mother.
“Oh, one more thing, Amelia,” Rowan’s tone shifted. It became serious.
“My patrol team in Meadow Brook reported something,” he said. “A few days ago, someone was sneaking around the territory.”
My smile faded. My eyes narrowed.
“They were trying to dig up dirt on your past,” Rowan explained. “My guys chased them off with some vague answers, but they were persistent.”
Seraphina looked worried again. “Someone is investigating you?”
“Thanks, Rowan,” I said calmly. “I’ll handle it.”
I hung up the phone.
“Don’t worry,” I told Seraphina. “It’s nothing I can’t fix.”

But inside, my mind was racing. I didn’t need to guess who it was. This had Caleb Stone written all over it. Or maybe Ethan.
If they wanted to play dirty, I would bury them.
Later that afternoon, I sat in the back of the car. I was heading to the hospital to treat
Theodore.
I pulled out my phone and opened my secure messaging app. I typed a message to Silas.
I didn’t want just names. I wanted ammunition.
*Find out who was sneaking around Meadow Brook.*
Claim
I paused, my thumbs hovering over the screen. My reflection in the dark glass looked cold. Then I typed the rest.
*And Silas? Don’t just get me a name. I want leverage. Make them regret asking questions.*
I hit send.
The reply came back instantly.
*On it, Boss.*
