Carlos shrugged indifferently.

I laughed softly and turned my gaze to Celine.

Carlos laughed, ruthlessly rubbing salt in the wound.

I ignored her emotions and scanned the crowd anxiously. Where was Ronan? I needed to know what means he planned to use to deal with Amelia tonight.

I couldn’t find him anywhere.

My gaze drifted back to Amelia’s VIP table, and I froze.

Sitting there, chatting and laughing with Amelia, was Valerius Kane. He was the owner of the capital’s largest auction house.

I couldn’t believe it. Valerius Kane was mysterious and notoriously difficult to approach. How could he be a guest of Amelia?

As I approached the table, Valerius Kane stood up immediately.

He extended his hand, his eyes holding the appreciation one predator has for another.

“It is interesting to be invited to such a gathering,” he said with a smile.

I shook his hand firmly.

“I look forward to making big moves here, Mr. Kane,” I said confidently. “I believe our cooperation will be… very profitable.”

Valerius nodded appreciatively. He leaned in slightly, lowering his voice to a teasing whisper.

“Your cousin is staring at us,” he said. “He looks like he is trying to solve a puzzle with missing pieces.”

I chuckled softly.

I looked at him, attentive.

“We will grant you one request,” Rowan said. “Anything within our power.”
