Chapter 168: A Despicable Target

Chapter 168: A Despicable Target

(Amelia’s POV)

Green

I sighed helplessly, looking down at the emeraldgreen snake coiled tightly around my wrist. In my other hand sat a small, pale pill. I recognized it immediately, It was a concoction I had made out of sheer boredom months agoa potent blend of moonflower and heavy stimulants.

It was an aphrodisiac designed for werewolves. It heightened the mating drive to insane

levels.

I hadn’t expected the little reptile to dig this out from the depths of my cabinet. His thought process was more tangled than a ball of yarn.

You want this?I teased, bringing the pill closer to his snout. I could feed it to you. See if you find a nice lady snake in the garden.

Green froze. He tasted the air with his tongue, sensing the danger in my tone. Immediately, he uncoiled his tail from my wrist and slithered away across the bedspread in a panic, disappearing under the pillows.

I chuckled, rolling the pill between my fingers. It emitted a faint, spicy herbal scent. A playful, dangerous smirk played on my lips.

I didn’t need artificial heat. I knew exactly what effect I had on Theodore.

We don’t need this cheap trick,” I thought, flicking the pill back into the small glass vial. He’s already on a leash. Any more heat and I might break him.

Inside my mind, Ava stretched lazily. My wolf let out a low, predatory purr.

*Agreed, she said, her voice dripping with satisfaction. *Let him stay lucid. I want him to know exactly who is devouring him when he loses control. His scent alone is enough to drive us wild; we don’t need to drug him to get what we want.*

I nodded in agreement. I corked the vial tightly and tucked it away in my bag.

My phone buzzed on the nightstand.

I picked it up. It was a message from Natasha. She had sent several screenshots of a chat

log. It was her conversation with Damien, where she was still roleplaying as Ameliaon a

burner account.

I scrolled through the images.

Damien was bragging.

**Damien:** *I was working my shift at the bar tonight. A really beautiful woman tried to slip me her number. I told her to get lost. I’m a onewoman man.*

**Damien:** *Bet your precious Alpha King couldn’t do that. Men like Theodore Crimson can’t maintain that kind of discipline.*

Natasha had fired back immediately.

**Fake Amelia (Natasha):** *Wow, you rejected one drunk girl? Do you want a medal? Theodore probably rejects hundreds of shewolves trying to climb into his bed every single day.*

**Damien:** *He’s definitely bluffing. No man is that strong.*

**Fake Amelia (Natasha):** *With his bloodline and face? That’s just a Tuesday for him.*

**Damien:** *That just makes him an unsafe mate. He’s surrounded by too much temptation. I live a simple life. I can guarantee loyalty because I’m not constantly tested.*

**Fake Amelia (Natasha):** *That just proves you’re only loyal because you have no options. Put you in a room full of temptation, and you’d fold. Theodore has remained untouched amidst endless temptation for years. He chooses to be alone.*

**Damien:** *How is that physically possible for a male Alpha? He must be lying.*

I rolled my eyes at the screen. Damien was bragging about passing a test specifically designed for an i***t. I knew the beautyat the bar was the honey trap Theodore had mentioned earlier.

It wasn’t just amusing; it was pathetic.

I typed a quick reply to Natasha: *Let him dig his own grave. This is getting entertaining.* A second later, a private message from Natasha popped up. Her tone was frantic. **Natasha:** *Amelia! You have to believe me. I swear on my wolf, Theodore has never touched another woman. Don’t listen to that i***t Damien. Theodore isn’t like that!*

**Natasha:** *With his power, if he wanted to play around, he wouldn’t need to hide it. But he cares about you. As his family, I can’t let his reputation get trashed by some exboyfriend.*

I smiled at her intensity.

**Amelia:** *Relax, Nat. Even if he had a past, I wouldn’t care. But I know he hasn’t

**Natasha:** *How can you be sure?*

**Amelia:** *I don’t check his energyor use magic, Nat. I check his intent. The man is obsessed. He doesn’t have the bandwidth to look at anyone else. His wolf recognizes mines there is no room for anyone else in his territory,*

Natasha sent a series of relieved emojis.

**Natasha:** *Okay, shadow healer magic or not, you have to help me screen my future dates. I attract liars like flies. Just tell me if they’re trash, deal? I have extremely high standardsI refuse to settle for anyone with a messy past or a wandering eye.*

I smiled and typed back.

**Amelia:** *Deal.*

(Author’s POV)

By evening, the atmosphere in the Stone River Pack House had dropped to freezing. Alpha Adrian Stone stormed through the front door, his face twisted in fury. He had just learned from Livia that Ethan, the heir to the pack, had been poisoned by Amelia.

Adrian immediately summoned Ethan to his study. He slammed the door shut behind them.

Is it true?Adrian demanded, his voice shaking with rage.

Ethan stood by the desk, looking pale. He guessed that Celine had spilled the secret to their mother. He could only nod.

Yes,Ethan admitted. “The toxin is in my system.

Adrian was apoplectic. He couldn’t believe his son had hidden such a critical threat.

You hid this from me?Adrian roared.

I didn’t want to worry you,” Ethan said in a low voice.

Adrian’s sharp gaze fell on Ethan’s right foot. It was still heavily bandaged.

And that?Adrian pointed a trembling finger. Did she do that too?

Adrian’s rage boiled over. He couldn’t accept that his biological daughter had crippled the pack’s future Alpha. He shook with anger.

My mercy has only allowed her to become this brazen,” Adrian announced darkly, Since you are incapable of handling that disgrace of a daughter, I will handle it myself.

Ethan looked at his father’s distorted features. He felt a chill run down his spine.

Amelia is different now, Father,Ethan tried to reason with him. Her power is unfathomable, and her movements are hard to track. We can’t just catch her. She has people protecting her.

You are so thickheaded,Adrian cut him off coldly, glaring at his son’s naivety. If you can’t catch the wolf, you trap the cub.

Ethan’s face paled. He realized what his father was implying.

That abomination might be powerful,” Adrian sneered, but Seraphina certainly isn’t.

No!Ethan trembled, taking a step forward. This is Amelia’s personal vendetta. It has nothing to do with Aunt Seraphina!

You’ve been crippled by her, and you still think Jaxon and Seraphina are innocent?!Adrian interrupted roughly. He slammed his hand onto the desk. If they hadn’t undermined my authority by taking her in and emboldening her, that wild brat wouldn’t dare act so recklessly against the Stone family! Ultimately, Jaxon’s family is enabling her!

Adrian began to pace the room. His paranoia was weaving a new narrative in his mind, connecting dots that didn’t exist.

I seriously doubt their innocence now,Adrian muttered, his eyes narrowing. Jaxon and Seraphinaall these years of keeping a low profile and feigning passivityit was just a facade. Amelia’s attack on us? I bet it’s exactly what they wanted. They are using her as a weapon to seize control of the Pack!
